A) Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include - use of 'being that' changes the meaning of the sentence and seems illogical

B) Insofar as she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including - missing verb

C) She was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include - its a complete clause and requires conjunction

D) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include - Correct - here 'as' means 'in the role of' here, not used for comparison

E) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including - missing verb

Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include a bachelor’s degree, psychologist Melanie Klein (1882-1960) was a visible iconoclast within a profession dominated by male physicians.

A) Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

Being is used to represent a present temporary state. As this event is in past tense, usage of being is wrong. This can be eliminated.

B) Insofar as she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including

Whose clause should have a subject and a verb. including is not a verb here but a participle. This can be eliminated. The word insofar is wrong here. This can be eliminated.

C) She was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

This is a run on sentence as the two clauses are not connected by a conjunction. This can be eliminated.

D) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

From the POE , this is the best option available.

E) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including

Whose clause should have a subject and a verb. including is not a verb here but a participle. This can be eliminated.

Project SC Butler: Sentence Correction (SC2)

For SC butler Questions Click Here

Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include a bachelor’s degree, psychologist Melanie Klein (1882-1960) was a visible iconoclast within a profession dominated by male physicians.

A) Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

B) Insofar as she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including

C) She was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

D) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include

E) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including

Option (A) is incorrect because of redundancy issue. Had this option been 'being a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include...', this choice could have been the correct option. This option does not sound correct to the ear as well. It is clearly incorrect.
(B) is incorrect because of 'not even including' phrase. It should've been did not even include. Also, the use of 'insofar' which measn 'to the extent of/to' is also debatable. This is the incorrect choice.
(C) is incorrect because two independent clauses are joined by a comma. The usage of "FANBOYS" could have made this option correct.

(D) is the correct option.
(E) is again incorrect because of the reason mentioned in option (B) - 'not even including'.

#TIP: For those, who are not aware of the FANBOYS, refer to: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/blog ... y-fanboys/

OE is D

Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include a bachelor’s degree, psychologist Melanie Klein (1882-1960) was a visible iconoclast within a profession dominated by male physicians.

A) Being that she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include : "Being that she was" is redundant. It can be replaced by "Being"

B) Insofar as she was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including : Too Wordy

C) She was a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include The two full statements need a connector

D) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include Correct

E) As a divorced woman whose academic qualifications not even including Not even including makes the sentence incomplete is grammatically incorrect. This also sounds weird.
