did anyone get an email regarding their video submission? I submitted mine a day before the deadline but I can't see any timestamp on the video and didn't receive any email saying it was submitted correctly and on time, does anyone know how to check if it was uploaded properly?

Hey! No email here either. But the portal says "We have received the following portfolio submissions from you:" in the portfolio section.

Hi Guys, I know folks here are far deep into interviews and decision expectation but I want to find out if there are specific Booth events that one can attend for an application fee waiver? I may be applying in R2 and I want to find out if anyone has an experience with such from R1 process.

Thank you!

No experience on this but this info is available on their page:

“ You may apply for an application fee waiver if you are a/an:

Summer Business Scholar graduate
Teach for America participant, instructor, or alumnus who completed service within the past five years
AmeriCorps and Peace Corps participant and alumnus who completed service within the past five years
Forté MBALaunch Member
JumpStart fellow
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship Recipient

Riordan Member
ROMBA Member
Service to School Participant
Toigo Fellow
Civic Scholars Nominee
Working in government or nonprofit
Active-duty military or military veteran
University of Chicago employee
University of Chicago student (all degree-granting programs)
Please note that Chicago Booth does not grant fee waivers on the basis of financial status or any other circumstance outside of the options listed above.”

Hope this helps

Thank you for your response. I saw this on their website and I do not fall under any of these category but I do appreciate your time in responding.

Did anyone else get a mini heart attack with today's email haha??

Honestly don't know if I can wait another 2 weeks, feel like I won't get in now.

Also if anyone has any tips to improve our chances before decision deadline, I'd love to hear them. I've submitted two letters of support already but could add another one if it is not too many by now.

Feel the same way! Some days I'm positive I'm in, some days I think the interview invite was a glitch in the first place.

I occassionally attend admissions and student events, and try to send in at least one question. I like to imagine AdCom watching the feed and recognizing my name and thinking "Nice candidate". Haha. This is how I cope.

Can you tell me more about the letters of support? Are they different from the letters of recommendation?

Those are not the same as LOR but are similar. Basically, it is a couple of alumni or current students who know you well and are willing to write a letter supporting you answering 4 questions (similar to an LOR). Booth has its own system to receive them as do some other schools. At some bschools these letters are frowned upon (HBS is one I've heard that do not like getting these)

They aren't material to the app process since a lot of applicants might not have a broad network of people at the school who can write in support of them, but they are nice to haves.

Hope this helps

Hey everyone, just thought I'd ask the community of aspiring Boothies about their thoughts on the recent incidences of violent crimes involving Booth students, and indeed the overall high crime rate in the areas just adjacent to the school. I'm an international and will be moving to the US with an SO when I study for my MBA. Booth is one of my top schools and I would be so excited to go, but I can't help but worry seeing these stories come up more frequently. Anyone have any thoughts?

I saw what happened to the graduate, really sad news.

I’m also an international aspiring boothie, but knowing the situation there I’m not too concerned. Something I’ve learned in Mexico, probably worse of in terms of violence than Hyde Park haha, is just to know where to go and how to go about those things. If you’re careful nothing should happen, plus most students live in the loop, so you’d rarely be around those parts.

Those are my 2 cents, but if you’re really concerned you should reach out to current students to get their feel on these things

Hey guys, I did a quick analysis of the last 4 years of R1 and R2 interview invites to acceptance rate with the data on this site.

What I found is that for Round 1 a weighted average acceptance post interview is 58.6%, in Round 2 it is 50.2%

Overall you have a 55.3% chance of getting in post interview in those rounds. This is considering 752 applications registered, the majority (457) in R1, so not the biggest sample.

Hope this helps to sooth the nerves of people like me who like to see numbers and quantify things to get a safer sense of things haha

You’re spot on. If you’re invited to interview it’s about 50/50 on your chances of admission. Only a few more weeks left to wait!
