I am not sure of the purpose of the 2nd sentence in the problem. I think, the 1st sentence alone suffices for the problem.
Nevertheless, "Hope to end" and "Hope of ending" are the correct constructions.
So, we can easily eliminate choices - A, B and C.
Also, <someone> does <something> with a hope (not in a hope).
