My answer is (A). It took me 02:16.

We can eliminate (BCD) rather quickly for lack of parallelism.

Now, compare (A) with (E).

A. not because it wants one to necessarily condition one's behavior but because it is itself a sub-unit of society
E. not because they necessarily condition one's behavior but because they form a sub-unit of society

In (A), it probably refers to "The unit" or "the family".
In (E), they refers to "ideologies ".

Can "ideologies" form a sub-unit of society? The answer is negative. So (E) is out.

(A) is the winner. I still do not necessarily comprehend the meaning of this sentence, though.

First split- It VS they- the pronoun antecedent is 'The Unit of fam'- So it wins- eliminating C & E
D and B can be eliminated for Parallelism

So would go with A

Difficulty medium?

Quote:
A. not because it wants one to necessarily condition one's behavior but because it is itself a sub-unit of society

sounds intentionally wordy but isn't obvious what's wrong with it

Quote:
B. not because it wants one to necessarily condition one’s behavior but for the reason that it is itself a sub-unit of society

"not because... but for the reasons that..." is idiomatically not preferred

Quote:
C. not because they want one to necessarily condition one’s behavior but they form a sub-unit of society

The use of the referent "they" illogically refers to one, which is singular

Quote:
D. not because of its wanting one to necessarily condition one's behavior but because it is itself a sub-unit of society

very awkward use of the gerund "wanting" here. Since the use of gerund implies that "its wanting one to ..." is a giant noun phrase, "because" should be accompanied by "of" as in "John slipped because of his untied shoelace" and not "john slipped because his untied shoe lace". The word "because" is a conjunction therefore requires a subject and a verb after. "Because of" on the other hand is used like a preposition.

Quote:
E. not because they necessarily condition one's behavior but because they form a sub-unit of society

same issue as C

The unit of the family indoctrinates one into the prevalent ideologies not because it wants one to necessarily condition one’s behavior but because it is itself a sub-unit of society.
