IIM U is great with an IIM MBA Degree. only 8 IIMs have 1 year MBA out of 21 IIMs so its still a good thing. SPJIMR will get you a Certificate for 25+ lakhs fees. IIM U has greater public perception so an IIM tag will help you in the longer run when all IIMs would outperform other institutes of the country. btw congrats on all offers.

PGDM(2 years) is equivalent but not PGPM(1 year) ....also 2 year MBAs from India are considered as MIM abroad.

The S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) was ranked 40th globally in the 2023 Financial Times Masters in Management (MiM) rankings.

just checked this list.... SPJIMR’s PGDM is mentioned and not PGPM as i said earlie

Thanks, I have a few points about both :

1) MY main point of confusion -IIM tag(especially considering Udaipur's brand increasing day by day ) vs current eminence of SPJ brand and it being among the top 10 institutes

2) total fees 22.75 vs 23.50 ( everything included - not much difference here )

3)No foreign immersion in IIM Udaipur vs Compulsory foreign immersion of 3 weeks at SPJ (for ex- for my specialization ops and SC we have to go to Michigan State University)

5) Placements:100 % placements at IIM Udaipur GSCM with Median 19 LPA vs Median stated by Spjimr- 24.89 Lpa

6) IIM Udaipur provides - MBA in GSCM/DEM degree

Spjimr provides- PGDM (BA)

7) batch size of IIM Udaipur adding both DEM(60) and GSCM(60) comes around 120 , SPJ also 120 to 140

Considering the above points which would be a better option?

My POV : IIM tag will help better in longer run if IIM U improves it’s stats YOY, not otherwise. SPJIMR : already a good brand and obviously better alumni network of both pgpm and pgdm. Fact: No 2-yr student counts 1-yr student as alumni.

IIM U DEM has 37 seats and GSCM has 55 seats so total 92 seats this batch

The MBA-GSCM program includes a two-course format. One course option is to spend an entire semester at Purdue University in the United States.
This semester focuses on the global supply chain perspective.

SPJIMR awards PGDM to 2 year course students and PGPM to 1 year course students

the 1 year MBA from IIMs is actually the real MBA and its the one year MBAs that get IIMs into the world MBA rankings while the 2 year MBA from IIMs are considered as MIM and hence they feature in MIM rankings. An MBA is superior to an MIM

IIM Udaipur is a better choice for the future

The IIMs clealry state that grant One Year MBA students the alumni status

One more point: MDI started one yr in 1980s, still not moved far

ISB started in 2001 and look it outperformed the IIMs as the best in India and one of the best globally

IIM A PGPX started around 2006 and look it has outperformed their own 2 year MBA in terms of average package

the highlighted parts in blue and the the first sentence of the next para.... clearly states that the One Year MBA is of more importance to these institutes both in terms of reputation globally and twice the fees One Year Students pay per annum compared to 2 year MBA students... so from IIMs point of view their One year MBA students are more important alumini both in terms of reputation and revenue
