Hello,

Whilst it's fresh on my mind (sorry, I know it's November but gives 2 wks for dev) - are we getting the Christmas decorations out on GMAT club, too? Will we have an advent calendar?

It would be fun to have one and it maybe has a randomly selected question inside or something along the lines. Maybe a fact or a rule even --- I know that I remember things better if they just randomly pop up without much context, maybe it's common for other people too.

I just know where I'm spending my Christmas holidays on so it'd be nice to have a bit of tinsel here or there 😅

Thanks! 😇

Thank you. That’s a very thoughtful suggestion.

Last year we had a scavenger hunt. We may do something along those lines this year as well but I like the concept of the calendar.

When I post a question I tag people such as GMAT Ninja because most times no one would answer.

If I could tag “question” and afterwards “solved” i think it might help!

Hello, just randomly had an idea that I think could have legs.

I think we could introduce a 'Wellbeing' section + entry point to it at the top nav. I think this would go very well with the wider GMAT process and, I think, there would be fair few bits that could go there (incl. some affiliate stuff to generate revenue). I've not noticed that there's one.

This is of course from the UK point of view that it would in theory appeal to the users, I'm not sure if wellbeing is a hot topic in other countries too but to validate the idea, I've noticed that there's GA tracking and not really a straightforward way to opt-out of cookies other than at a browser level which would give pretty clean-ish data, so maybe worth a basic user test (if interested, I can outline what I'm thinking). Analysis could even split by geo to see if appeal to the key regions similarly.

Best wishes :heart

Thank you for the suggestion. Sure - i would love to hear more. The concept of well-being and cookies in a browser did not immediately connect in my head. We only use Google analytics on GMAT Club and I am so ancient that we only use it for stats and figuring out what's popular when I do a review once a year

I don't think we do any other kind of tracking (I think there are forum cookies but those are used to keep you logged in and prevent having to login every time and also show you which posts have been read by you/etc).

Hiya, no, no they weren't two directly connected ideas :) The cookies note was just regarding that due to the current set-up you would collect decent data to validate the idea (in comparison to e.g. with GDPR-compliant cookie opt-in we have to work with like 10% of data which is not great so would be pointless to base the idea validation on that) -- so good news essentially.

The main idea was the "Well-being" section with an entry point to it from the top nav, so it forms a part of the user journey (in a literal and wider sense).

I've noticed that a fair few times in the chat, people are just tired of GMAT, or frustrated about progress, or newcomers ask regarding how to balance it w work etc. (would need to flesh this out if the page is going ahead to account for most problem points) - all of these areas could be touched upon within it (but not in a boring way, would need to figure a cool way).

I've also noticed that a fair few debriefs mention the well-being part of GMAT (I personally think the well-being part is of equal importance to the learning one), so that's ready-made content, just need to be shuffled about and served in a cool way.

That section, in my opinion, could be made prettty engaging. I'm sure there could even be some form of a sponsorship opportunity for the whole area that'd cover the dev costs. Of course after the idea is validated and there is audience indeed.

For me this came to mind because I was thinking where can I find a discount code for some yoga / meditation classes, hence the affiliate angle; due to the current pandemic a lot of yoga-type places / freelance instructors have gone online (in addition to the more established ones of course), so I'm sure there could be a deal (or multiple) struck there, be great if someone took an advantage of a niche market and tailor the classes to GMAT-theme :D I know this might come across from pure girl-angle etc. but some of the boys have been mentioning meditation too, so we could see the validity of the appeal in the data (which I mention is going to be pretty clean subject to what browser people use (some are clamping down on cookies by default etc.)). Of course --- yoga / meditation is not the only angle; this was just an example. Depends on how monetised the area would remain I think.

Reason why I mentioned the geo segmentation is due to different perceptions across the world of well-being and how 'openly' it's talked about in community / in the country's media (e.g. in the UK I feel like we're bombarded with these messages, increasingly men, as women are targeted with different stuff at the mo I think, but I've not like gathered data on it or read the latest marketing research on it so might be distorted view). Probably not going to go in detail about it here, but as part of the validation test, geo should deffo be taken into account given the different continents GMATclub covers (from what I gather).

I hope this paints a better picture, let me know your thoughts.

Hello BB,

Is it possible to reactive "Page Jump" option in practice question bank section?

It was active in previous version of this website.

I think it would be nice if we could be allow to hide the timer. Also separating GMAT prep question bank questions and GMAT prep mock exam questions would be a good idea, since doing mock question will decrease the validity of mock exam. Also is it possible to search questions by a certain threshold of correct answers?

If the posts from this page could be sorted, I would love to use random!
Because if we cannot we tend to start from the most discussed questions

Thanks for the suggestion! It seems sorting works for most elements/items. Are you suggesting to randomize it or to sort it? or are you referring to mobile?

Hmmm Just realize that I can sort by Autor to have a "random" sorting! But random might be the standard so all questions would receive the same number of clicks from this source

Got it! Interesting idea... Right now it is sorted chronologically (most recent to latest)
It may be an interesting idea to add "Random" button though most people probably are looking at it sequentially. or perhaps we can add "unattempted" button or something like that to filter out options?

What is the end goal I guess? :)

I see that the ones that have most comments are the tricky ones, therefore the first ones. Am I wrong on my reasoning?

Usually they are sorted chronologically but if you wanted to get the trickiest ones, you could go by posts or views or Kudos.
Posts are NOT always the best method to go by since moderators do clean up some of the busy discussions and remove dead branches (discussions that go nowhere or perhaps questions that are obvious or dumb) so sometimes depending on where the moderator is in the moderation cycle of that forum a topic may have more or fewer posts.

Sorry for a long explanation :-o
