I've been trying to keep my mind away from CBS, but it's such a tense week ahead. It's been 5 days since my app went interview complete and I believe there are a couple of others in same situation. I pray that we all get that admit this coming week, this wait is killing whatever is left of me. It's been 366 days since I submitted my first CBS app, the journey has been long and tedious with multiple setbacks. I haven't given up hope and I'm still fighting for that admit. Let's hope there will be a reason to change our avatar next week :-)

got my "final decision rendered"

result: deferred !?!?!?!

my initial response: @!#$%

but now that i've had some time to gather myself and let it sink in, do any of you have advice on how to proceed?

the next step is to send an email w/ a letter confirming that I'd like to stay in consideration. from what I've read on blogs, this letter can be up to two pages long, but that seems like overkill via email. do i send as an attachment? a short 5 sentences?

any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

A friend of mine applied to CBS two years in a row:

1st year: Applied RD, rejected without interview

2nd year: Applied ED, interviewed, deferred, and then finally accepted in February.

He ended up graduating and doing really well -- switched careers from engineering to investment management back in the boom times.

He sent in extra letters of recommendation and a waitlist update letter type thing around January I believe. Don't lose hope -- deferred folks get admitted every year.

cbs12m,
i've only contacted the adcom member assigned to me. it sounds like we have the option of meeting or talking to them on the phone prior to the RD deadline. They said they would do so in order to "walk you through the process", but i haven't heard back about their availability yet, so that's where I'm at.

it's definitely MBA purgatory. have you applied elsewhere?

I read on BW that one of the adcom big shots was travelling last week so maybe that's the reason behind the decision delays. Best of luck!!
