I'm applying to FT.
My manager asked me for a guide as schools like Kellogg sad a max of 4 pages and Harvard is ~1 pg , so he wanted to know if Wharton had any preference. I couldn't find anything on the site so was wondering if anyone here had insights. WIll ask the adcom then.

Cheers!

Hey,

I may be of some help here....I spoke to the dean of admissions when he was here for an information session. He told me that Wharton does not have any preference. They just want the recommendors to be "to the point"...basically 'coz they expect all recommendors to be busy people so they really dont expect long stories about you from them. All they want is a clear response so just ensure that ur manager doesn't loose the essence of the point by being too verbose. Thats it....thereafter length does not matter. If he thinks more words are essential to make your case stronger, it should be okay.

Thanks for the info, DS1486.

Personally, I don't see how the Wharton recommendation form could be filled out in less than 4 pages - it has seven questions and asks for examples. Off all the recommendation forms out there, it was the most "burdensome" to present.

Just the full-time MBA. The Lauder program is fantastic, but not a perfect match for me - I'm an older, 180-degree career switcher with a Masters degree in International Relations. I think I would benefit more from intensive focus on the MBA side, given my professional background.

Are you going for the Lauder program? If so, good luck - I'm jealous.

Of course! Why would anyone at Wharton disregard a huge amount of very relevant and extremely useful data?! :)

I know this is premature to ask, since the results aren't going to be in for another 9 days, but I was daydreaming about what it'd be like to be at Wharton.

Does anybody know what percentage of students own cars? Everybody seems to live far 20+ min walk away from the school so I was curious.

I did find a cool 2009 housing guide here: https://clubs.wharton.upenn.edu/welcome/housing/WWW%202009%20Housing%20Guide.pdf

Did everyone get the following email? (R1 Interviewed/Dinged, R2, others?)
I interviewed Nov 30. Wondering if this has any correlation to accept/deny? I'm assuming not, but a little hope never hurts.

Dear XXX,

Greetings from the Wharton MBA Admissions Office! We would like to invite you to join us for a current student meet-and-greet in one of 50 cities internationally.

In the coming weeks current MBA students will be returning home and have arranged informal meet-and-greets to share their experiences at Wharton and life in Philadelphia with interested prospective students.

The students look forward to meeting you!

Best Regards,

The Wharton MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Team
