People on this forum keep on talking about 'application going complete'. Do you get an email when that happens? I submitted my app in time for R2 and when I go to the status page it shows all the documents (rec letters, transcripts and gmat) as being received. Is there supposed to be an 'application complete' sign somewhere?

Little article from Yale Daily News about Dean Snyder getting ready to take over in the summer. Kind of interesting that he's had some involvement in Admissions activities already:

"He has been helping Bruce DelMonico, the head of admissions at SOM, with recruitment efforts, and spoke with five prospective students.

'It’s good for me to be a small part of [the admissions process] because I learn from the interactions,' Snyder said in an e-mail. 'One admit’s decision is coming down to Yale SOM versus Kellogg [Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University]. I made the ‘positive case’ for both. I also, no surprise, made it clear that I hope that it comes out Yale.'"

They mean that all the checkmarks have turned green. There is no email or notification or change of status. The status would only change to "Interview requested".
Congrats to the consortium admits! When do you find out about the fellowship?
As far as people getting off the waitlist - a lot of the current students that I happened to talk to were admitted off the waitlist, so there is definitely hope, don't give up!

Any advice for people on the WL? What should I do specifically to strengthen my app? I know you can ask for feedback and they say to express interest, how exactly should I do that?

First off, tell them you are still interested in joining the school.

Adcoms encourage you to ask feedback but they also encourage you to identify weak areas in your application and address them on your own. In my case, I had low WE, and I explained how I was involved in other activities over the years and all. So, if you know something that might be an area of concern explain it.

I also requested for permission to submit an additional reco. I know there are other students (from this forum) who were WLed and they sent letters expressing their strong interest to join Yale SOM. They also addressed areas of concern by joining courses or other. Some of the current students are also very active and you can PM them for advice...

good luck!

For R1 waitlisted candidates who weren't yet interviewed, did you get a chance to interview after being waitlisted? Or should you request one?

If you don't interview, how did AdCom possibly admit you off the waitlist?

There was one person who was WL'd and then invited to interview. Don't know the outcome. I did "urge" the committee to interview me in my LOI but that's up to them. Obviously, if I don't get an interview I won't be admitted from the WL.

Not sure how soon Yale SOM will get to back to us. Did you receive a confirmation (or response) after you send in your LOI? I sent the email within days after the R1 WL decision, but never heard back at all - even after I sent a follow-up email to ask if it's been received, etc...

I guess it means no so good news. :(

I got a confirmation two days after sending my LOI, but it took them several weeks to confirm the additional LOR I sent . . . I'm not sure if there is a standard procedure in place though.

After each LOI, I had to e-mail to confirm that the letter was received (I requested confirmation ~2 weeks after I sent them in), but had a nice response within a few days of the second email.

hey guys, i got a call from adcom on Friday and I am in (consortium app). I also got into haas (berkeley), and have a couple of other interviews in process. Assuming that details on the financial aid packages in the coming weeks do not change much, which do you guys think is a better school? I probably want to get into strategy consulting for a couple of years after graduation (McKinsey/BCG/Bain), and am indifferent to East Coast vs. West Coast. What do you guys think???

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Have you thought about type of clients you may want to work with? For example, if you go to Haas and get assigned to one of the west coast offices, you will get to work with some really awesome tech clients (VCs, startups, Silicon valley companies, etc) and hollywood studios, etc.

A lot of YSOM students with consulting gigs end up in either Boston or NYC office. Assignment varies depending on student's interest or background. One student I know came from record label industry and she ended up getting assigned to media group, etc.

Yes, this is the main application round, so very much so.
