Anyone in the INSEAD applicant pool (Fall 2011/Spring 2012) with over 10 years of work experience?

If it helps you to know, about 10 ppl in 12J that are 32 and above, and 192 ppl admitted in 12J so far. May or may not have 10 yrs work experience, depending on if they did masters.

HankScorpio,

Thanks. Good to know that Insead takes a chance on us old farts. Age Concern is a issue with mature applicants.

Jock4MBA, I hear you. I'm 31 myself, will have 9 yrs exp., and I'm hoping there will be a good number of 'more experienced' students, so I can learn from my classmates' war stories.

Here's the approx (not official) age distribution from one of the promotions. Don't worry, there's plenty of experience in the class. I'm 31 also, and from my observation, even the young ones are bright, experienced, and worldly and the diversity in the class is just phenomenal. Good luck!

I must admit I'm getting quite impatient with waiting for the INSEAD result. I'm dying to know whether i got in - praying for an admit! Can't say I'm able to concentrate on work these days amidst the interview stress and nervous waiting.

Hi nycgirl191,

I am aged 31 too with 10 years WE, kinda late developer. I felt that at some BSchools my application would be an uphill battle with drive for younger candidates. I attended some Bschool events and sometimes I looked like the oldest applicant in the room. Insead's emphasis on seasoning and international experience combined with its students, faculty and Singapore exchange were the selling points for me.

I even have an answer prepared if interviewer grilled me on my mature age and how I would fit in with younger students.

As I was going through ClearAdmit's wiki page today, I read this update:

"Current State: 2/9/2011: Many September 2011 Round 2 applicants have received their interview invites, and a handful have already received their admissions decisions; there has been quite a bit of movement on the September 2011 waitlist as well, much of it positive."

Is it true that some R2 applicants have received final admissions decisions already?

This made me even more nervous than I already was...

to my understanding the people that already received admission decision were the one on the R1 waitlist. The final answer will be delivered between the 23 and the 25th of February for R2 applicants. I am pretty sure of that. Nonetheless, my level of stress is very very high.

Just a question, dunno whether it has been debated over in this forum but: do you think that September intake is easier than the January intake (competition from all other business schools and no internship)?

As someone who was waitlisted in R1 and subsequently admitted, I can say that those decisions are either...

1. R1 Waitlisted getting accepted post 25th Jan first payment due date or

2. R2 applicants getting dings.

Dont panic guys.. Just hang in there. As a previously waitlisted candidate I can understand the anxiety and willingness to perform any other tasks, but patience pays..

If someone goes that way it will be minus one applicant :)
