Yes, I understand that the forums do not represent a large population of the applicant pool. Yes, I understand that it is not representative of the round.

I am still perplexed as to the perceived limited number of interviews that have been released (based only on anecdotal evidence). It's difficult for me to think that the majority of interview invites have gone out, but I they must've based on the call to admissions earlier. Tough to reconcile it in my head...

I have a query. I have got a significant update to my profile that I would like to share with the Admissions Officers? I am confused what is the best way to share that information with them (mail them or call them or nothing would help). Please comment.

Why don't you try both mailing and calling them?

Has anyone from Middle-east got an invite so far? Looks like chances of getting an invite are getting slimmer every passing day

Am in the Middle East too. Nothing yet. Another person on the board mentioned that they hadn't heard of anyone eithier

What your profile EDJ? Even I haven't heard of a single guy from ME who got an interview invite!

Same here.. and nothing yet. Don't know why they forgot about us..Perhaps they intend to do phone interviews later in the process.. (trying to stay optimistic :) )

I'm also in China at the moment..and no interview.

However, I have to say that the post earlier about calling in to the admissions office and hearing that the majority has been sent has confirmed my worries.

I also agree with an earlier post that I'm a little flummoxed that many seemingly competitive candidates who did well at selective schools (H, W, Booth), including myself, have not been considered by Stanford. However, I realize that Stanford has a very small class and its process has been known for being bit unpredictable. Unlike W and H which often can seem to have an ideal candidate/profile, Stanford does seem to want a truly diverse class - Sandy has mentioned before in a post like putting legos together.

I could have put in much more effort into my Stanford app, but not sure that would have even merited an interview anyhow given uncertainty of process.

Given that, I am choosing to treat Stanford as a 'no' at this point. :(

I did put my maximum efforts in Stanford. Only 5-10 days remaining before I know if I did the right thing :|

You mentioned that H and W have an Ideal candidate/profile. What that is and how would you rate my profile when compared with that. I have 5 years of total experience in energy (design, project magagement, and engineering), gpa 7.51/10 in engineering from India, avg EC, 27 yrs, 770. It would immensely help me to decide whether or not to apply to those schools in round two :?:

Hey,
I'm by no means an expert, just a fellow applicant myself who had gone through R1 and gained a bit of experience through it. You can read a lot about what Sandy has posted on his posts for insight.

I'm not totally sure but I would asssume staff vacation = no invites this week. Seems like another nail in the coffin for us R1'ers without invites (barring those mythical day before deadline interview invites).

(edit)
... scratch that about vacation next week. That twitter account you referenced is not for Adcom. On the website it says the admissions office is closed on the 24th after 2pm. So who knows, maybe there will be a couple invites released this week (most likely not very many though!).

during election coverage you have several media outlets using an exit poll ("sample") to call an election when only a few percent of the votes have been counted. likewise, i call stanford gsb R1 (interview invite) game over. now that was somewhat cathartic :)

i gave the admissions office a call on friday to see if i could sweet talk anyone into giving me numbers on what % of interviews have been released (since "majority" could mean 60% or 90%...). the guy i spoke to said "the majority of invites will be sent out by early december, with some trickling through until the dec 15". i asked if he could tell me what % have already been released, and he said he knew the number, but couldn't tell me :) ...not surprising.

i only post this because i really think there is hope for a batch of invites before thanksgiving. sure, after wednesday all of our chances decrease substantially...but i would not be surprised if there is some news in the next couple of days.

Thanks for trying, 123fakestreet!

However, when rereading chinki's post (and just quoting here), it said that the admin noted "a few invites will continue to trickle down over the next few days". That wording sounds more like a majority of 90% rather than 60%, as much as I'd like to believe the latter.

But hey, we'll have to wait and see.

I sent a mail to admissions asking about the status of invites and I received the standard reply :(
Dear lostphoton,

Thank you so much for your interest in the MBA Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Information about interviews can be found in the “Admission” section of the MBA Program website, www.gsb.stanford.edu/mba.
Interview invitations can be extended anytime between now and the decision notification date. Unfortunately, we cannot provide information regarding what percentage of invitations have been released.

I hope this has helped.

If you have additional questions, please submit them through the webform.

Have a great day,

Stanford GSB Adcom Team Member

This is not helping at all :(
