1 in 2 off the waitlist seems very high an acceptance rate. Could that be possible? Also, I noticed on their waitlist frequently asked questions, they ask that no additional recommendations be sent. I have had a very high level senior executive at my company (and a Kellogg alumni) offer to send a note if I ever got waitlisted. Do you think this would be a good strategy? Or just do exactly what they say? I'm not sure yet.
I just wanted to give all the waitlisters out there a vote of confidence. I applied R1 two years ago and was waitlisted on the day before the final decision date. I sat on the waitlist for roughly 2 months before I got the acceptance call in mid-march, with most of the R2 admits.
Being on the waitlist means that they think you are qualified to succeed at Kellogg, but they are also trying to get a feel for what the R2 applicant pool looks like.
Don't give up hope. Show them you are interested by sending a letter updating them on significant progression in your careers, but please also be patient with the process (some WLers basically stalk the admissions officers -- don't do it).
