My query is intended to all applicant. After the decision of the Tuck, do you think that IR score has impacted your admission decision in anyway? Also, is there anyone in tihs forum go got admited with lower gmat score but high IR(~8) score and denied admission inspite of good Gmat score (~760) and poor IR score(~1-2)? Also, I would like to know do you think that there is any corelation with the $$$ with the good IR socre?
This is a really interesting question.
gmatclub stats should really start collecting IR/AWA for the schools --> is this something gmatclub has considered adding?
Not a bad idea!
I applied this year without an IR score (GMAT in December 2011), so can't offer a data point on this.
My take on it, based on gut feel - It will take a few years and admission cycles for AdCom teams to figure out the relevance and implications of high/low IR scores. I doubt if it would play a huge role in the judgement of an application, at least for the next couple of seasons. If you read Richard Montauk's "How to get into the top MBA programs", the admissions teams mention that AWA scores weren't a big criteria in judgement, unless it was too low. The general feeling was that it wasn't a good predictor of your academic performance in school, unlike the Quant and Verbal sections. After all, a high GMAT score is relevant because it gives AdComs the confidence that one can handle academic rigor (I disagree on this personally, but that's a different story).
IR may be a bit more relevant that AWA in that regard, but I would be surprised if it made significant difference between admit/ding or $$ decisions in the first year of application, especially since a large pool of applicants wouldn't have that data point.
