Got all correct
But still but sure how 4 has E as answer

Sent from my ONE E1003 using GMAT Club Forum mobile app

It would be great if you can share your reasoning too.

Hi anairamitch1804,
Even i am not sure about the answer to question .
I read the passage again to find the answer 4

please read the the last para

Some traditional anthropologists are not comfortable with their colleagues serving business interests. Parkson is aware of this and understands these concerns, but he believes that “my job, though it ultimately contributes to a company’s bottom line, also contributes to the quality of people’s lives. It also provides data on the behavioral patterns of a group of individuals who have something in common, data that are likely to be of interest to others in years to come. That, to me, is the function of anthropology.”

I inferred from the highlighted part .

I still don't get how the answer is E for question number 4. Don't get any logic behind it.

I think [how business in the pass were structured] is the subgroup/belongs to [the behavioral patterns of a group of individuals]

However, it seems to me that this inference is too far a way.

For me B [wish to improve their profitability] and [contributes to a company's bottom line] seems to be more closely related than E.

Official explanation attached.

Hello,

Would you please explain Q3 as well?

Thanks in advance.

Question 3.

C. [Teenagers are brought together and their opinions are solicited...] = focus groups (and questionnaires) = traditional marketing tools = a corporate anthropologist LEAST likely to do.

Source is in Veritas RC book. Official explanation attached.

I put D too because it seemed the author was making a case for corporate anthology to fit into the traditional definition of anthology

Official Explanation

2. Which of the following does Sid Parkson claim is common to corporate societies and the lives of the islanders he studied?

Difficulty Level: 650

Explanation

Since this is a Specific question type, simply refer back to Sid Parkson’s quotations in the passage. In the 2nd paragraph, Parkson states that “The higher-ups would say little but their presence went a long way towards keeping the Tone of the debate civilized and focused on the greater good.”

(A): Nowhere is this mentioned. Just because people want to change their status doesn’t mean that they resent the system.

(B): No causal connection was made between morale and poor decisions.

(C): The passage never states that individuals realized how their own actions affected the common good. It might be that others would have to point this out.

(E): The 2nd paragraph states that the higher-ups would say little, not that they wouldn't take part.

Answer: D

4. Which of the following is mentioned in the passage as a reason for considering the legitimacy of corporate anthropology?

Difficulty Level: 750

Explanation

The last paragraph quotes Parkson as stating he assembles “data that are likely to be of interest to others in years to come. That, to me, is the function of anthropology.”

(A): While this may be true, it is not mentioned in the passage.

(B): This is never mentioned as a reason for the legitimacy of corporate anthropology.

(C): Motivation is not mentioned in the passage.

(D): This reverses things; the author only mentions how Parkson’s work in the field helped him in the corporate world.

Answer: E

My opinion about question 4: the answer is here:

It also provides data on the behavioral patterns of a group of individuals who have something in common, data that are likely to be of interest to others in years to come

Now, let's go to the question:

4. Which of the following is mentioned in the passage as a reason for considering the legitimacy of corporate anthropology?

(E) It allows people a look at how businesses in the past were structured. --> this means that peopl "in years to come" (previously quoted) will be able to look at businesses "in the past". It's tricky, but fine
