W/L'ed.

Thankfully my first choice school came through with a yes, so I'll be removing my name from the W/L. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to the w/l'ers and Round 2 applicants. It's been fun following this thread to see 'live' status updates.

I am the only one here who is contemplating about turning down my ucla admit and going to hkust..its not a very bright idea..but the alumni i interviewed with told me that if i wanted to work in asia post mba.. its better to study in asia as its getting more difficult to move from the us immediately after completing the mba and finding a job in asia...
my goal is to work in asia..

any thoughts on this matter - opinions are most welcome and sorry for hijacking the thread..

ps - i have only 12 more hours to make a final decision as i have to pay the deposit for hkust tomorrow.

Aviroop, just my 2 cents- from your profile, I guess that you are in the consulting industry.
I don't know much about other places in Asia, but Tokyo certainly offers generous opportunities in your industry provided you have an US MBA.

sleepy - i was in the financial services sector of consulting. my goal is to work in finance in ib/investment management/pe/vc but in asia... i am one of those classic career changers..

i am just weighing the opportunities provided by both schools. I applied to anderson as they revamped the curriculum and has now a dedicated finance track. HKUST on the other hand is asia's finance power house. For me, both schools offer the optimal finance curriculum. Unfortunately, I can only pick one.

Based on the strength of your work experience and other credentials, I would like to share your application with my colleagues in our working-professional MBA programs. Should you not wish to hear from our Fully-Employed MBA (FEMBA) or Executive MBA (EMBA) programs, please reply to [email protected]. I was admitted!

I do not think I will attend UCLA though, so I hope one of my seats go to a wait list candidate from gmatclub!

Good luck everyone.

I'm in the same boat. Also based in LA, wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Dinged after interview. Not very disappointed as I got into one of my top schools. My interviewer was such a jerk to me though I am not surprised about the ding. You can read my synopsis of the interview on page 8 or 9 of this thread.
