I just had a question/issue that I would like resolved, at least to some degree. And, I figure since you attended two of the elite schools that interest me, you may be the best source to receive the answer from. What my question regards is stated in the title. The question is, How much does going to a not-so elite school effect admission to schools like HBS and Wharton? For example, I go to the University of Iowa, so would these hurt me a little or is it common to see people from public schools such as Iowa at HBS and Wharton? I have considered transferring to schools like UCLA, USC, and Georgia Tech. The only thing limiting my ability to transfer to better schools is that my first-year GPA is pulling down everything and making my shot at Ivies and other elite undergrad schools seem rather bleak. I may be worrying too much about it, but is it a big factor or not? I would assume I still have a chance even if I stay at Iowa, but I am just worried about how much of a chance I may have.
