Hi - I am looking to apply to MBA school for fall of 2018. I was wondering if few of your gurus from admissions can help me understand how i should handle this situation.
I have a gpa 3.7 from undergrad. but i have an F (if i remember correctly i don't have anything below Bs on my transcript). the reason i have an F is because during a computer programming class, a friend (not friend anymore) had asked me to see my code to help him guide how he should write the program..He had been working long hours and was in school at the same time. I didn't really think twice and gave him my code. He chose to copy it word for word which ended up penalizing me with an F.
Just to be transparent, i genuinely don't think this speaks to my character. Since day 1 my parents who come from humble beginnings always taught me to stay true my values. Before i started my job, my dad said if i ever see anyone do or say anything that might seem dishonest or might make me question his/her integrity, my dad said to speak up.
So my question is, how do i go about approaching this? Do i tell the admissions committee on my optional essay or do I leave it unaddressed?
My intuition right now tells me to be transparent. I think it's best to be honest than to try and hide something. Please could you let me know what your opinions are?
I agree! Honesty, at most times, is the best policy.
I think this situation has given you a great learning and made you more judicious about situations that border on the ethical line.
Write the essay with maturity. Show the strength of your character and if you had another such situation later in life, you could make a mention of that to show that you have stayed true to your honest character.
