Any ideas on when us R3 folks might be hearing on possible scholarships? And if you're definitely not getting one, do they let you know as well, as UNC does? I'd love to know if there's anything coming or not, 'cuz it's getting close to the deposit deadlines for other schools. My heart's really with UW, but any financial help would clinch the deal!

fingerscrossed,
I think that there are very limited scholarship opportunities after Rd1 and Rd2. I had written to them about the scholarship decision after Rd2 decisions and this is what they told me. I felt that they essentially told me that if one does not get scholarships in Rd1 and Rd2 then it is better to plan to finance the MBA yourself. Here's what I was told: This reply was sent to me on Feb 7th:
Scholarship offers to the most meritorious candidates from both R1 and R2 will be sent by the end of the day tomorrow. There is a chance that down the road, candidates who do not receive a scholarship in this initial offering may receive merit or need-based funds, but that would be on an occasional case-by-case basis so if you do not receive a scholarship offer tomorrow, you should move forward with plans to fund your education through other sources.
Hope this helps a little although I know it does not answer your question completely.....

700 .. well at least they gave you a solid date. I wrote to then stating that UW is my top choice, but I also have other admits with considerable scholarship and the deadline for these colleges is nearing. I asked them to provide me with a scholarship decision at the earliest .. and this is what they said :

We are still working on scholarships, notifications should be sent out sometime in April. Thank you for you patience.

I also heard from some current students at UW that the school has received a $50 million gift from some alum and hence they should be a bit generous with their funding. But I ain't holding my breath.

Large amounts of that $50mil will go towards the construction of a building that won't tip over in a stiff wind.

I'm sitting on some classes next week. What's the typical dress attire for grad students?

Obviously, I won't be going there in a hoodie and sweatpants, but I don't really want to wear dress attire either.

I'm thinking jeans, sneakers, polo and jacket for the weather.

based on what I recall from my class sit in this will put you right in the middle of the pack in terms of "formal" . You should be good to go!

westsider,
interesting observation on your part. For us internationals who dont have a chance to see, its interesting to know that the atmosphere is just so casual. Sounds like I will fit in right away!!!

Eddy,
you seem to be miffed at UW's correspondence. Well I have to tell you that they gave me a specific date after two mails so I think you will need to give them another jolt. Even now when I wrote to them asking when my I-20 and confirmation materials would be mailed, they told me a few weeks. Now what does that mean!!!

Anyway like I have always maintained, I am still not leaving UW because I believe that the quality of their adcom is in complete contrast to the quality of the program. Cheers

I know a few of us have received interview invites last week for R3. I still haven't heard anything still. Should I be worried?

I understand they may consider your geographic location. I am in Utah. Does that help?

I would try not to worry too much until you receive a "dear John" email from adcom. From what I've heard they send out rolling invitations.

Also, did anyone interview with Tim H.? I am interviewing with him next Monday...I met him breifly during an On-Campus event and he seemed really personable and interested. I'd love to hear someone else's experience with Tim...especially in an interview setting.

I don't get the complaints about Adcom. They have done everything they said they would do as far as I am concerned.

Ditto. Did any Seattlietes get a chance to attend any on campus events? After getting a chance to meet and listen to mrs bannon and other adcom members, they are extremely transparent in what they are looking for in the application process--moreso than any other school I have had contact with. There may not be a ton of bells and whistles in terms of marketing materials, but i'm willing to let that go in return for an extremely modest price tag of about 21k.

Yup, have been to campus a number of times. Indeed the adcom staff was personable, nice, and helpful. Tim in particular was great!

Allow me to recap (in summary form) my original points. Also, these are (obviously) just my view of how things went. Your mileage may vary. :-D
1) My interviewer was terribly unpleasant. I met 2 other people (in person) that had equally unpleasant interviews. I don't mean "i screwed up that answer" unpleasant, but rather "I thought the inquisition was 500 years ago and in spain" unpleasant. Luckily it sounds like others were spared this fate - particularly gmat clubbers.
2)The school has a great atmosphere, student population, curriculum, and reputation. When it comes to student communication and, Yes, marketing materials, I don't think they compare to other schools I have interacted with. In particular Vanderbilt - which is in the same tier - just blows UW away in terms of communications and marketing. But, since I agree that UW is a great choice, and a great value, I am choosing to attend Foster!
3) I don't really think it is an either/or choice. UW can be a great school and STILL have areas to improve in.

My final two words of wisdom (the wisest things I will probably ever say) :-D
-You can't judge a book by it's cover, but PEOPLE DO. Thats why they put pretty covers on books.
-->Translation: lets encourage them to put a nicer cover on foster.
-The optimist sees the glass as half full. The pessimist works to get a bigger glass - and fill THAT up.
-->Translation: Sure things are great, but that doesn't me we can't make them better. Lets all be pessimists!

I have been to several events over the years, and I agree that the school is transparent about their desires.

I don't even get the lack of marketing materials comment, they could print everything on the website and mail it to you OR you could go to the website.
