Hello All
I have two quick questions that are bugging me for Kellogg and MIT Sloan Round2 Applications:
1) I am taking one recommendation from manager of my supervisor. He was was my ex-supervisor too. The other recommendation is from co-founder of my nonprofit startup. We have been working on it for last 1.5 years and have successful projects under our belt. Would you recommend taking a recommendation from co-founder, given that he can evaluate me properly?
2) My recommenders are not MBA , can that have a negative effect on the application?

1) It depends on what your other choices are. In general a supervisor would be better, because the schools will assume that your partner likes you too much to be too honest. But he might be good also. It really depends on the pool of possible recommenders you have. I'd say if you could get two ex-supervisors who really liked you that would be preferable though.
2) It won't matter that much. It's nice sometimes to have a recommender who has an MBA from the same school as you're applying to, but other than that, it's fine.

My essays also speak about my leadership experiences in the nonprofit besides the work in the multinational company. So if I am taking recommendations from two ex-supervisors and not from one co-founder, would it make my essays weaker? I am worried about the whole package.
