UNC is 28 in the latest rankings while they were 22 in the 2024 rankings.

What happened to UNC?

Oh Crap! Do we have an idea why they dropped so much?
Answering my own question, it seems there was quite a few schools that were ranked 24 and now one of them dropped slightly and got the 28th spot.

Average GMAT 662 (LOL, is that new, old or average 😂)

Full-time graduates employed at graduation (two year average) 73.9%
Full-time graduates employed three months after graduation (two year average) 84.8%

GMAT range (10th-90th percentile) 572-681

Do you know how they are calculating the average GMAT since the scores have changed last year?

Replying to my own question again

  • Median GMAT and GRE scores (13%): This incorporates the 50th percentile of GMAT scores (both the old exam and the new exam) and GRE quantitative, verbal and analytical writing scores of full-time MBA students entering in fall 2024. All five scores, when reported, were converted to 0 to 100 percentile distributions specific to their exams. U.S. News then weighted these percentile distributions based on the proportions of new entrants submitting the GMAT vs. GRE exams. For example, if 80% of a school's test-takers submitted old GMAT scores and 20% submitted GRE scores, its 0 to 100 old GMAT percentile distribution would be multiplied by 0.8 and its 0 to 100 GRE percentile distribution would be multiplied by 0.2; then the two adjusted values are combined for the final score. This means U.S. News did not convert GRE scores to GMAT scores or vice versa in its calculations.

Rice is not even on the important list anymore . With oil prices dropping, is rice gonna survive?

Rice/Jones has been bobbing in the mid-20's for a long time. Oil prices have gone down plenty of times before and will continue to fluctuate. Oil prices are a reflection of the overall economic activity outlook.

oil& gas industry has been challenged for a while with few US candidates wanting to pursue it and internationals are even hired, so I think the school will be OK but if the entire Gulf Coast economy takes a big dip as the result of oil price challenges then we have more to worry about...

Quote:
Approximately 12% of Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business Full-Time MBA graduates from the Class of 2023 secured employment in the energy sector, which includes oil and gas companies. This represents a decrease from previous years; for instance, 17.9% of the Class of 2019 entered the petroleum/energy industry.

Hi bb,

I am sorry. You are right. I need to fix my chart Stupid US news changed their terminology and that threw me off last year. 2023 rankings used to be called 2024, which is stupid, so they corrected to the better year naming, which I knew but it confused me in my records. I need to rework the charts.

I have got my wires uncrossed and updated the charts, creating 2:

2024 vs 2025 and 2023 vs. 2025

The interesting part is that there was decent movement last year and again this year, but if you compare vs. 2 years ago, the movement is much less visible, with the most change being 3 points for Foster that moved down and this year moved back up. Definitely a roller-coaster for some programs and Tech seems to have contributed to the rise, fall, and subsequent rise of UW.

Similarly Tuck is a big winner this year but that's because it was a big looser last year, and in 2 years, the net change is ZERO.

Looks like Olin is #24. Did really well! Ranked tie with USC Marshall.

Marshall was ranked #18, so that's a big drop (but again, they were ranked much higher than expected last year).
Olin was 26, so it did better!
