Hi Vaibhav.

Even though your Quant score has not gone to Q51, you have been increasing your total score by getting more Quant questions correct because your total score isn't based on your section scores. It's based on your performance on the questions.

Regarding Verbal, in this video, I discuss in detail how to go from the 30s to the 40s in Verbal.

Thanks MartyTargetTestPrep for your reply,

I want to know what more should be done in order to score Q51.
To score a Q51, do I have to get all the 31Qs correct?
And I believed that the overall score improvement was solely due to my improved verbal scores.

I will surely go through the video that you've shared.

Regards,
VG

You could use the streaks method to totally master the Quant topics and become super consistent in Quant.

The streaks method is discussed in this post.

You can score Q51 with one or two missed questions, maybe three.

For a 750, checking the different section combos that could potentially do that could be helpful. Although it's possible to get a 750 with a very high verbal score (had a student who got a 750 in April on a retake mainly because their Verbal went from a V37 to a V48), fair to say the scoring on Verbal gets pretty steep at a certain point. A Q50 V42 may be far better to aim for therefore, especially since you're already at a Q50 level on multiple official mocks.

3. What should I do to improve my verbal score from V36 to Q42+?

How to get a V40 or higher on the GMAT? What about a V51?

Before jumping straight to my questions, here is a little background :

I've been preparing for GMAT for past couple of months, below are the scores of my official GMAT mocks;
GMAT 1st MOCK : Overall 660 | Q50, V26
GMAT 2nd MOCK : Overall 680 | Q50, V32
GMAT 3rd MOCK : Overall 710 | Q50, V36

I've been scoring consistently Q50 but I have been able to reduced the number of incorrect questions from 8 (in my 1st mock; Overall 660) to 4 (in my latest mock; Overall 710).
Even after doing so, my score has not improved from Q50 to Q51.

For the verbal section, I've been improving on my skills and basics, post 2nd GMAT MOCK, for past month and I could see the improvement in my Verbal score of GMAT 3rd MOCK. Still i don't feel this is sufficient for taking my score to 750.

You might already have guessed the questions, still I'll sum them down below for ease:
1. What should I do to get to Q51?
2. How many correct answers are required for Q51?
3. What should I do to improve my verbal score from V36 to Q42+?

Please share Any support, tips, strategy that could help me overcome this hurdle.

It has been a challenging journey, Looking forward to a SUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT

Don't worry about 51 on Quant. When I scored 51 on a practice, I only had 2 wrong questions if I remember correctly. Still, won't sweat it! Just keep going

Official GMAT score algorithm is different from the actual GMAT. My advice is to practice more mocks. Donot worry about about the scores in the mocks. This is tough but its true. It can be very demoralising to score low and misleading to score high. I have scored ( and i am not exaggerating) from 620 to 780 in my mocks. Mocks should be used to practice timing and tricks that work for you. And the most important part is what comes after the mocks. Review thoroughly!!!! This is the most important step and something people skip. Review both right questions and wrong ones. Check if the logic you applied is correct. GMAT verbal is and i cannot stress enough, ALL ABOUT LOGIC.
Good luck!

Hi VaibhavGurjar,

To improve your quant skills, you may find it helpful to engage in topical quant practice.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant topics.
