Question received from subscription form......... Which school is best for consulting career post-MBA (Top 10-20)?

So, I get this question a lot
In theory, these schools have more than 30% of alumni work in consulting:
INSEAD, Emory (Goizueta), Dartmouth (Tuck), NYU (Stern), London Business School, Georgetown (McDonough), Northwestern (Kellogg), Georgia Tech (Scheller), Texas A&M (Mays), Duke (Fuqua),
BUT!!! in actual life, does it matter if your schools have a 31% of students go to consulting or 24%?
Consulting in MOST business schools is the number 1 or number 2 biggest recruitment sector

So, my take is, all top MBA programs can lead to consulting, now get into the best possible schools that fit your other needs (location, scholarship, brand...)

What would a top b-school find more appealing - A GMAT 770 with an average profile or a GMAT 670 with great extra-curriculars?

.

From what I can see you have a fantastic profile
Great academics, brand on the CV, 2 promotions in 3 years, and GRE score which is above average.
I am assuming you come from India, which means you are coming from an over-represented MBA candidate spool, but your profile does sound unique

If you are looking for someone to assist you with your applications (check out our INSEAD stats: https://www.aringo.com/aringo-mba-admission-statistics/) and want some more info, and a deeper profile review, please send me your CV, GMAT score, school wish list and any other info to [email protected]

What would a top b-school find more appealing - A GMAT 770 with an average profile or a GMAT 670 with great extra-curriculars?

EASY question = Both candidates would not make the cut for the top business schools!
Your application needs to be excellent in everything
670 GMAT ? is 98% of the time too low for a top business school with an average of 730 GMAT
on the other hand, when I interviewed candidates for LBS, I remember more than once, very high GMAT candidates (780, 770) who were either not impressive, or full of themselves. needless to say, I didn’t pass either...

I would rather see a 720, with 4-6 years of solid business experience, a couple of promotions, work with international clients or teams, and 2-3 interesting extra curricular than any of "your" profiles

Do you think applying with GRE score can be an issue with INSEAD and NTU. I am also applying for scholarships so do they consider GMAT score over GRE?

And what should be included in Optional essays, I always think that Optional essays should be utilised to provide extra information about my profile. But what kind of information should be included. How can we use Optional essays in the best way possible.

ALL top MBA programs are indifferent to GREs vs GMATs. wherever you can score a higher score, go with that... 332 is great!

this is not a generic question - I can not answer in this forum what you should put on YOUR optional essay
as you said, you should use it to add info... but at ARINGO, we use it in different ways from one candidate to another...

Funny questions
if the applicant with <3 has more than 2, and they are impressive, then why not
If the applicant with 9, has an impressive application, then why not

less than 2, or more than 12. that is a problem!

Let me ask a question and answer it 😊
Q:
When should I apply? R1 vs R2

Q:
In theory, R1 is always better. The chances might be slightly higher for both acceptance and scholarships, and even if they were the same, you want to know the answers by November, in case you need to apply to some backup options as well.

BUT R2 with a better application or 20+ points in the GMAT ALWAYS beats R1

I have a question about application forms. I am currently filling out 2 of my applications and both have questions about my salary history, even though they are optional.

As of right now, I am making close to a post-MBA salary in some industries, but I am not pursuing an MBA for a salary increase.

Will disclosing my salary on the application reflect poorly when AdComs make their decisions (either on admission status or financial aid)?
