It depends. :)
If you want a binary answer, I would say that it does help as an international student. Admissions committees are keen to know this -- if they accept you, you are able to pay. With internationals, they know that the underwriting reqs on student loans will be more onerous. They don't want to accept a great student that cant come due to availability of financing. If you come to the table with a sweetener (self-financing), then you do have a slight advantage.
However, it does not supplant GMAT scores or well-written essays, it just helps with all other components being equal.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your feedback and will be working hard on my positioning. I am unlikely to re sit for the GMAT but intending to work with what i have. Just a follow up query, if my company decides to sponsor my MBA (either full or partial), will it be looked on favorably or otherwise by the admission committee?
