I am looking to start a full time program in Fall of 2013. I began working full time as an Industrial Engineer in January 2011 (so upon entering school, I will have 2 1/2 years experience). I did 5 co-op quarters with my current company. My GPA is 3.77 from Ohio State (major in Industrial and Systems Engineering with Honors in Engineering, minor in Entrepreneurship, 4.0 minor GPA), and my GMAT is coming up, but should be somewhere in the 720 range based on my practice tests. Northwestern, Penn, MIT, and UVA are my top choices.
Do programs consider the work experience to be the graduation until the time of applying or time of starting school? Also, would my co-op quarters be considered since they are with the same company I am with now? What will my chances of admission be with that work experience?

Usually the number of months in counted from when you ENTER and not when you apply. Still, it does put you on the lower end of the experience side for many of the programs you mentioned. The number to look at is this is the average work experience, which for Kellogg is this:
Middle 80% range of work experience of newest entering class in months:
From: 37
To: 85
For Sloan:
Middle 80% range of work experience of newest entering class in months:
From: 36
To: 96
Sooooo, you might want to hold on to your horses, unless you have a very good reason to rush things (and you should address this reason in your app)

My reason for starting early is a desired career change away from supply chain/industrial engineering and into social entrepreneurship (either in marketing or venture capital). It is also ideal timing for when my wife will be graduating with her MHSA and looking for full time employment.
I have 4 co-op quarters with the same company in a similar role. Would this impact the work experience at all? Also, how do you think schools will view the reasons for entering?
