Hi
I am considering one year MBA like INSEAD, ISB or other top schools in US UK. I would like to get into strategy and consulting. Due to the financial constraints and other commitments I couldn't manage to think about MBA earlier.
I started as a civil site Engineer in 2002 and promoted as a project Manager after 2 years. I then moved to different city and started in Design( Civil engineering- residential). Joined as a design engineer and got two promotions in two years. From design engineer to manager and operations manager. I have joined the company in the early stage and played a substantial role in the growth and restructuring of the company. Lost the job in 2009 due to the recession. I then came to NZ and did Masters in Construction management. did well and was the 2nd topper.
After the course I joined as a Project engineer's role in road construction and since then change few jobs.
While in India I worked voluntarily as a teacher for English speaking with an NGO. ( 2007-2009). In the earlier stage of my career (2003 - 2006) I served a President of the Club which was founded by me with two of my friends.
I have also started a consulting company in NZ in 2012 and run for 6 months, however in a negotiation with the current company I ceased the operations.
I now want to take further step into strategy and consulting as this was always the passion.
By the time I start my application I will be PMP qualified (appearing in Jan 2015) and will be CEng ( Chartered Professional engineer, NZ).
Can you suggest if there are fair chances for me to get into MBA. Is it worth to think about 2 years MBA from top 10 Universities? Before I get too carried away thinking if I score well( target GMAT - 750) i will get into Wharton or Chikago, is it practical for me to think about 2 years MBA.
Regards.
