Dear admission consultants!
My aim is MBA from Harvard. But I have a problem which paralyzes me... it is my GPA.
I will apply in 2019, but I need advice from somebody.
Education:
Bachelor in Technology, Computer Science and Automation, GPA 3.1/4
Master in Economics, GPA 3.6/4 (with one 2/4 in microeconomics)
Work Experience:
1 year Research in Economic Policy
Currently starting working at Big4 Advisory
A aimed to work at consulting and go to the Big3.
Problem:
- I don't know how to prove that I studied badly not because I am bad and had important reasons for this. (details below)
Solution:
- organize change of equipment in my first university, negotiate about this with big companies
- organize student workshops and competitions in this university, help students find actual information, invite professionals (when I was a student it was denied for me, university was against such student iniciatives)
- organize scholarship from my own money for 1 student every year, for who as me (when I was undergraduate) see problems in education for supporting he or she in making environment changes
OR
- reconcile and don't prove that I am not bad person, make extracurriculars in more actual topics (I can not save this university by myself only, and I think that it will be better that such places were closed)

Problem (details):
My parents insist on graduation that college, where I studied. I started pretty well, and had 3.6/4 average first two years. But quality of education was really bad. I had to learn obsolete theory, to work with equipment which isn't used nowhere than this university and was built decades ago, study program languages which aren't being used in any quality and result-oriented company.
But I don't want to make things at low level, because it is dangerous for society (as an example - falling rockets, wich were constructed by graduates of my college). So, I was in a real depression and years in college are a black spot in my memory.
I was destroyed with my undergraduate experiene. I got master in economics for work in economic policy consulting, because I want to broke stimulus which decreased level of education in my country, stimulus which make companies uncompetitive. I participated in important for country projects, but to make a real result I must be more closely to companies, universities...

It's hard to understand your GPA without understanding the program you attended. I can tell from your writing that English isn't your first language and sometimes students incorrectly translate their GPA from a non-US institution into the 4.0 scale.

Hi there,
It's okay to address the GPA in optional essay. Your Master's GPA is decent, so that will be helpful. If you score a strong GMAT, then that will further help your case. It's fine to provide some reasoning for low GPA but end of the day it's best to just own it and then show via other data points (GMAT, Master's GPA, alternative transcript) how you still have strong academic ability.
