2 years - Thomson Reuters (Singapore) - in a pre- sales role, involved in revenue generation and interacting with business stake holders focusing more on buy-side clients.Managing client expectations, proposing and designing solutions. Traveled extensively across APAC, meeting regulators, fund managers, banks for consulting and gathering requirements.

3) Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay, GPA -7.9/10, Bachelors in Chemical Engineering

4)Active member of Thomson Reuters Foundation, involved in multiple events for raising funds and creating awareness about Human Trafficking
 Actively Managing a small portfolio of financial assets (equity,bonds,mutual funds), earned a good return over past 2 years
Part of Debating club, part of team organising first-ever National Debate in the institute.Won prizes in debating at college and national tournaments
Mentored and tutored financially less capable students for preparation for IIT entrance exams

Kindly advise on the schools I should look at, and if my profile is competitive for them?

Your marquee experience and high GMAT will likely get you some attention at top schools. I would look at Chicago, Wharton, Duke, Virginia, Tuck, Columbia. These schools are competitive, and the Indian Applicant pool is deep and wide, but your core qualifications coupled with a well packaged application should get you some interviews. Thanks a lot for the evaluation.

Is there anyway I can distinguish myself from the Indian applicant pool?

I was planning to apply to the a similar bunch of schools in R 1 as you suggested and possibly include Yale, Darden and Johnson for R 2 (if required).
Do you reckon this is a good strategy? Any comments/feedback is much appreciated.

I am planning to apply for MBA   in US universities. I need some guidance and direction in writing LOR's and SOP's.

Here are some insights to my profile:-

I am working with RBS   as a software engineer, mainly working as developer of Oracle Financial application and minting Ledger business applications. I have 3.5 years of experience in Banking and Finance domain, and look forward for widening my horizontal knowledge by adopting for this course. I have received appreciation certificates   from my organization and have been an active member of organizing committee for employee engagement programs.

As part of my hobbies, I have a passion for clicking photographs and extend my hobbies to assignments. To add to it I have been founder for this co curriculum activity at work space and have started Club studio for all the camera lovers. We have more than 100 members to boost the club studio now and still growing. Also i love to ride on my bike with my friends and have founded a national biker club. Have visited a lot of places such as Agra, Rishikesh, Shimla with my Biker club, exposing all kinds of terrains and conditions.

Monhish-

the best way to stand out in the Indian applicant pool is to get personal in your application. When you tell your story, make it a narrative which addresses the "why" and not just the "what" that you have done. Just like fingerprints, no two life journeys are exactly alike, but it's in the passion and they why behind the what that allows these differences to come out most clearly.
