Hi Veritas Prep,
Please help me assess my profile
Age: 25 (will be 26 this year)
Nationality: Indonesian
Undergraduate: Bachelor of Computer Science, Monash University Malaysia (but degree from Monash Australia) GPA 2.67 (but WES converts it to 3.46)
GMAT: 710 (Q:49, V:37, IR:6, AWA: still waiting, just took my 1st GMAT yesterday)
Took a basic short course on finance from a local b-school in Jakarta, Indonesia, got an A for it.
Work experience:
Nov 2011 - Mar 2012: taxi motorcycle startup in Indonesia
worked as junior programmer. I left the company since the founder wasn't committed to the business at the time.
Mar 2012 - September 2014: paper manufacturing industry
worked as in-house SAP consultant, bad working environment, so started looking around for an exit strategy while I was there
at that time I already had a plan to attend a good business school, so I decided to find a better job that can give me better experience
Mar 2013 - October 2014: mobile game startup from Vietnam
at first worked there part time. The company wanted to expand to Indonesia and I was the go-to guy
worked my way up until I got promoted to be the country manager
September 2014 - present: mobile game startup from Vietnam
Country manager in Indonesia
I want to apply for MBA to any of the tier 1 b-school in the US.
Priority would be Wharton, MIT, and Columbia since those schools are tied with my post MBA goal.
Post MBA goal:
work in the finance industry with the hopes of someday running my own investment firm.
Please tell me what should I do to increase my chance of getting accepted into my dream school (e.g. social work, retake GMAT, climb Everest lol)

Thanks for sharing your profile. Very interesting background you have which should certainly stand out coming from your part of the world especially if your accomplishments at work are top notch and increasingly levels of authority and responsibility. Your GMAT score is in range but a bit below the average at most of these schools and since you have only taken the GMAT once if you think you can get a better score it may be worth the time to solidify your candidacy. On the GMAT front if that conversion is accurate then you should be around the average for your target programs.
Now on the career goals side there is not a career link to your background so AdComm may have concerns over the origin of this interest so if there is some connection I don't see make sure to share with them. Schools love to see the dots in your background "connect" so help them out if possible. If you are just looking to go in a totally different direction that is fine too but they will just have to understand why. Keep in mind part of their job is to assess whether they can help you reach your career goals so if they feel the career switch is too great that could be a potential negative. People switch careers all the time especially into Finance at the schools you've listed above just make sure your vision is clear here. Finally, I don't see much in the way of extra-curricular involvement. Anything from school or during your professional career would help especially if there is some leadership involvement. This reads as a potential gap is I am reading this correctly.
