I am an Indian. My SSC percent is 84.4 and HSC percent is 79.8 and I graduated from delhi university with 70.8% marks in physical science electronics. I have done 'effective communication and personality development through theatre' a 100 hour course which is led by a theatre director and visiting faculties were personalities from NSD(national school of drama) and Bollywood. I have represented my college by doing stage acting in professional auditorium not college campus. I was a member of ASHMITA THEATRE GROUP for 1 year. I have performed in 5 plays as stage actor working with a team of more than 60 peoples including backstage artists which have helped me a lot in improving my leadership skills. My GMAT score is 730. Any chance to get admitted in LBS or HEC Paris MIM course? Any recommendations? And also tell me does doing stage acting count as work experience?

Thanks for sharing your profile. You have a very unique background for a business school applicant. If I am reading this right your main work experience is as in theatre. Now this is very non-traditional work experience for business school but it is in fact still work experience. Your strong showing in the GMAT will certainly help legitimize your candidacy but you will need to help the ad comm understand why you are pursuing an MBA and why now in particularly. Also, more so than the average candidate your career and development goals will have to be very clearly and make sense given your past in theatre. If you can pull this together you can potentially be competitive at the schools listed above

Hi,

You have a decent profile. Your academics and GMAT Score are really good. Since your profile is different from IT background, you have a fair chances of getting admission in LBS and HEC. I would highly recommend you to showcase your theater experience and achievements very well to improve your chances of getting admit in above mentioned B-Schools.

I would also recommend you to seek some professional consultants help in reviewing your essays.

Hi Aman,

I agree with some of the reviews here - your work experience is work experience, and so will count. I'm assuming you received a paycheque for this, correct?

Focus on your story - why do you want an MIM at this point - as long as you can get it to make sense, you will have a big advantage over other applications, simply because of the diversity that you bring to the table.
