Hello,
I am a 29 yr old white male
Current Experience: 5 years of work experience at Wells Fargo (in Credit, 2 promotions, can speak to quant focused work like financial modeling etc.)
Past Experience: 1.5 years in government contracting/consulting
BS in Finance from Small Private School, Cum Laude, Finished in 3 years
GPA: 3.52 overall, 3.65 for Finance classes
GMAT: I have a 670, scheduled to retake in April
Interested in leveraging MBA for a career in P/E in general. Would especially like to focus on film/entertainment/media etc. or start a Film Production company. Perhaps couple a MBA Finance concentration with Entrepreneurship concentration.
Extra-Curriculars aren't particularly outstanding, just basic volunteering with local Food Drives and Furniture Drives for inner city programs, volunteering at First Tee Organization (Golf for kids inner city), other similar volunteering but again nothing outstanding.
Schools of Interest:
NYU - Stern (Finance/Film synergies)
UCLA - Anderson (Finance/Film synergies)
Cornell - Johnson (Finance)
UCB - Haas (Might be a stretch)
Columbia (Might be a stretch)
I am open to applying to other schools, let me know if there are some that aren't on my radar that might be a good fit.

Thank you for your detailed post. Assuming a 700+ GMAT, this is a nice set of schools for you. I agree that Columbia would be a little bit of a Stretch for you but you could increase your chances of getting in by applying early. I recommend taking a look at Michigan Ross and MIT Sloan as well. While Sloan doesn't have a very large film / media focus, the technical element of the curriculum and broader MIT offerings could position you well.

With a GMAT of about 720 or so you may have a chance at these schools, especially Cornell and UCLA. You can improve your odds at CBS by applying Early Decision. Hopefully, you have experiences in your background that would make your film/media goals credible and due-diligenced. If not, I would try to jump into something right now so your career change seems organic to your experiences. In terms of other schools, you might also consider Yale and Wharton (if you score well on the GMAT), which place 5% and 6% of their MBAs in Media/Entertainment (compared with 7% for UCLA, 6% for NYU, and 4% for Columbia). I'd be glad to give your resume a closer look if you'd like to share it: [email protected].
