Hi all
I have been waitlisted at BU last week and I just received an email today from the adcom that basically they were left wondering what's my motivation for an MBA program at BU and how that fits in with my professional goals. I didn't write any essay for this application and only did a short video essay. Maybe that's why it's unclear to them.
Basically, I am turning 32 soon and I have a PhD in Life Science and have been working in a Fortune Global 500 companies for the past 3 years as a scientist/subject matter expert (non-lab based). I want to do an MBA to equip me with business-related knowledge/skills/networks to help me transitioning from a (super) specialist position to a more generalist, more managerial position after MBA. However, I would like to stay in the same industry that I am in, Life Science (healthcare/pharma/biotech). My second and lesser option is to go into healthcare consulting. My long term goal is to become a senior manager/director in a large science-related MNCs.
Do you think that these are strong enough motivation and goals for me? I am planning to write an essay describing my motivation and goals and send it to them. Any other recommendation and/or criticism?
Your input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
