Profile Evaluation Needed

Question

Thanks ahead for all those that will be submitting input into my current situation!

31 year old Asian American currently residing in China
2nd Tier school undergrad GPA 3.3
GMAT 710
9 Years Experiences in: Big 4 Audit; Manufacturing Corporate Finance/Accounting; currently Startup Finance

Career Switcher to Corporate Healthcare Finance and eventually Strategy

Interested FT MBA programs:
Duke; Yale; UCLA; Georgetown; INSEAD; CEIBS

I am applying round3 to these schools, main concern is limited number of slots in Round3; would I have better chance to apply in round 1 instead for the top US schools or go ahead and apply round3? Also matriculating age is also a concern.

Thanks for your post. While you have a good chance at Georgetown and CEIBS, your chances are lower at the rest of the programs. Round 3 is tough. You would have a better chance of getting in round 1. That said, if you want to go sooner, you could put in a few apps for round 3 with the understanding that the results may not be great for all of the schools. pretender21, Waiting for R1 would improve your odds because of the number of R1 slots available, but given your age (and if you really want to be enrolled this fall) you could apply to these schools in R3. If you are dinged by all of them, you could just reapply in R1 with no stigma (though also much less time to show improvement in your reapp). Though I would want to know more about your profile, based on what you provided you have a good shot at G'town and CEIBS, a modest shot at UCLA, and 'reach/stretch' chances at Duke, Yale, and INSEAD. If there is no pressing reason you are applying R3, R1 will give you the best chances here but even with a R3 submission I think as stated above Georgetown and CEIBS would probably love to have you as well. But I'm sure you are ideally aiming for some of the higher ranked schools on your list so it may make sense to hold off on R1 so you can assess all of your decisions at one time

Thank you all for the quick response. My only pressing concern to apply for round 3 this year is due to my age.

But I guess that's a question in itself, would 32 vs 33 be a major difference when schools are considering for applicants from a career runway point of view?

also any other recommended schools that would be a good fit for my situation?

I personally would say not a huge difference, I think it is always better to give yourself the best chance at success whenever you do apply and R3 generally will not do that for most applicants
