Hi everyone,
I just finished my 3rd GMAT attempt and got a 710 (Q48, V40). I am not sure if I should attempt GMAT for the 4th time. Please advise!
Below are my results/timeline:
January 2016:
01/01/2016 - Started GMAT Prep, bought the OG, OG Quant review, OG Verbal review,
MGMAT Strategy Guides, and Powerscore CR Bible. On weekdays, I would wake up at 5:15 am and do a study session from 5:30 am to 7-7:15 am before work (1.5 hours), then do another evening session of 1.5 to 2 hours. On weekends, I would do two 3-hour sessions per day.
01/18/2016 -
610 (Q38, V35) MGMAT - Took my 1st CAT
01/19/2016 - Started a live 9-week Manhattan Class taught by Ron Purewal
February 2016:
02/28/2016 -
640 (Q38, V40) GMATPrep 1 - On this exam, my timing in Quant was completely horrible. I had to guess on the last 11 questions (I got all of them wrong too) as I had just a few minutes remaining.
March 2016:
03/06/2016 -
690 (Q46, V38) GMATPrep 2 - This time, I ended up leaving the last quant question blank because I ran out of time again. Based on that, I estimated that my actual quant level could be around Q47-Q49 once my timing issue was fixed. I was also a little disappointed with my verbal score a bit, as I thought I had improved both SC and CR by quite a bit by this time.
03/20/2016 -
740 (Q49, V42) GMATPrep 3 - This exam was taken 2 weeks before my actual exam on April 4th, 2016. I specifically purchased the Exam Pack 1, as I did not want to be mislead by a potentially inflated score from retaking the GMATPrep 1 and 2 and seeing repeat questions (although I realize that the Question Bank is huge for these two tests). Anyway, I was absolutely happy and ecstatic about this score as I had previously estimated that my math and verbal ability would be around Q49 and V40-42 level. (made 9 mistakes in Quant, and 8 mistakes in Verbal).
03/23/2016 - Purchased Question Pack 1
03/27/2016 -
660 (Q47, V35) GMATPrep 4 - OMG!!!

What the hell just happened? An 80-point drop in scores??? Okay, just to be fair, I drank alcohol the night before (because I was feeling sad and dealing with some major personal life issues) and didn't go to bed until after 2am, and couldn't sleep very well the night before. Also, I didn't feel that great in the morning, but still took the exam at 12pm (same as all other exams, because my actual exam was scheduled for 12pm on a Monday). My SC accuracy has been close to 95% in the GMATPrep Question Pack 1, but I didn't end up doing too well here. Overall, I made 10 mistakes in Quant and 10 mistakes in Verbal. What baffled me was that I just made 1 more mistake in Quant and 2 more mistakes in Verbal when compared to GMATPrep 3. My conclusion? I realized for the first 10 questions in both Quant and Verbal, I made 3 mistakes in Quant and 2 mistakes in Verbal (I made 1 mistake in Quant and 0 mistakes in Verbal during the first 10 Questions in GMATPrep 3). Furthermore, I theorized that GMATPrep accounted for experimental questions differently for each practice test, and I may have been just unlucky and did not get some of my correct answers counted by the GMATPrep algorithm when accounting for experimental questions (I believe that's closer to a 25% figure per section). The worst thing about this test score is that I got it 1 week before my actual exam - very demoralizing!!!

April 2016:
04/04/2016 -
690 (Q48, V35, IR8) ACTUAL GMAT 1- Unfortunately, I kind of got screwed during the real exam. The new employee at the test center messed up my Verbal section (I lost 6 minutes due to his incompetence which caused my computer to freeze, but only 4 minutes were added back to my Verbal section). I was super stressed and frustrated and couldn't focus on Verbal, and ended up with a 690 (Q48, V35 - this was one of the lowest Verbal scores I got). I filed an incident report with Pearson VUE asking for a free retake. Eventually (thanks to Jeremy aka "OfficialGMAT" user on this forum), I got $200 off my retake (I already paid for my 2nd retake the full $250, so this $200 off will apply to my 3rd retake).
04/05/2016 - 04/21/2016 - Started Prep for my 2nd attempt. Redid the OG as well as partially redid the OG Quant/Verbal Reviews. Timed myself for every question and averaged less than 2 minutes. Studied 2 hours in the mornings and 2 hours in the evenings the 1st week. Then only studied for 2 hours in the mornings during the last week before the exam.
04/10/2016 -
730 (Q49, V41) GMATPrep 1 RETAKE - I was pretty happy and thought that my actual GMAT range is Q48-49 and V40-42.
04/22/2016 -
700 (Q44, V41, IR8) ACTUAL GMAT 2 - I am not sure how I screwed up quant this time. Although it could be because I rushed through the section and had around 8 minutes left at the end (I completed the first half of the quant section in 20-25 minutes and forced myself to slow down for the second half and still had time left over). So here I am today only with a 10 point improvement from my last test on April 4th. I was really expecting a Q48-49 because I have been scoring in that range consistently on GMATPrep.
May 2016:
04/25/2016 - 05/09/2016 - Started Prep for my 3rd attempt. Didn't take any GMATPrep exams, studied for about 1-1.5 hours in the mornings during weekdays by doing GMAT Question Pack 1 questions, didn't do anything on the weekends.

Should I Retake GMAT - 4th ATTEMPT?
I'm planning to apply to schools in Round 1 this year. Please advise if I should retake and aim at getting 730-740?
Thank you!
