Hi Admission Consultants
I am planning to take an unpaid vacation for 4-5 weeks.
To give a little bit of background - I am working in US on H1 Visa.I am planning to go back to to my home country during this period.
Lately, I have been super busy with my office work and haven't been able to spend much time on my Apps. Next few weeks is a downtime and I expect it to get hectic again after that. So I also plan to spend some of this time on my apps or on things that would put me in a good position wrt admissions.
The reason I want to take unpaid vacation is because I want to use my leaves(which are few) for school visits in September and then later interviews. Since I am on H1, I cannot take unpaid leaves while in US.
What I am trying to figure out is whether the schools even care(or even track) if somebody has taken breaks(unpaid) during his/her career if these breaks are small.
I understand that I can probably give some reasons about how I used this time, that could may be even work in my favor, but right now I am trying to figure out whether the schools even care - and if I take this leave - would I need to explain this in optional essay/somewhere else.
Another piece of information that may be relevant is that during my 4 year career, I have also taken 2 unpaid leaves before( 2months and 1 month) before - but these were due to medical reasons and thus unavoidable.
I know that people explain longer breaks - but 4 weeks is something people may just use for a vacation, personal reasons, family commitments or something else. Which is why I personally think the schools would not care. But I still want to take some expert opinion before I go forward with this.
Admission Consultants - have any of your previous clients done something similar. If so, how did you suggest they address this.
Different opinions are welcome since I understand different consultants may have different approach/answer to my query.
I plan to use consultants to navigate through the application process. But I haven't yet selected one company. I am plan to do that in next few days and discuss this in detail with them.
But I need to make a decision right on taking this vacation right now, since I would need to inform my boss in advance. So any help is appreciated.

From what you shared, you would still be employed by the company even during the unpaid leaves, right? If this is so, the unpaid leaves would not even be reflected in your CV. Thus, this does not seem to be a concern and does not seem to warrant an optional essay. You may be better off using the space to highlight your other qualities.
Many clients/applicants have succeeded in getting admitted to their dream schools even after taking breaks with their employment, either between jobs or prior to the MBA program. Reasons on how these breaks were used were explained clearly to demonstrate purpose and personal growth, as well.

Hi there,
If you have short-term employment gaps (<3months), then you don't need to explain. Anything more than that would raise concerns unless explained.
I have been on H1B myself, so I understand the implications. But in your case, since you will continue to stay employed, it won't need any explanations. Although when you are outside the US, you are not considered on any visa status, you will still be considered the employee, so you don't need to show any break in your resume.
