Hey spawn003 can't speak to the Indian female (or even Indian general) application process and odds nor those specific schools really and am not an admissions consultant, but I applied with about 7.5 years of experience Round 1 and received acceptances to M7/Top 10/15 schools. At admit weekends I met a lot of others who were in their late 20s and early 30s and had similar/more work experience and were from all different backgrounds. There may be select schools that favor younger applicants, but overall I do not think that is a big negative factor for most MBA programs yet. I'd guess that as you approach 10+ years is when you have to make an extra strong case about why full-time MBA and not EMBA for a lot of schools. That was mostly what I wanted to comment on.

Just weighing in as a fellow applicant I can't see many schools left in CA and AZ besides Carey. Not sure where your husband is in CA and if you were looking at schools you could drive from. If you were planning to fly you might consider some schools like Foster and Rice where flights might not be that much more expensive. All those schools will be really tough to do Round 3 though. More for thinking Round 1 next year.

I'll let the admissions consultants weigh in more, but you might also add a bit more about your profile (more specifics on role and accomplishments, why MBA, what your career goals are after) because admissions consultants can potentially share if something besides your GMAT is holding you back and give advice for improving for Round 1. Your GMAT is under the averages of most of these schools (but only by a few points for some). GMAT may be the reason that schools aren't sending interview invites or there may be something else and admissions consultants would be best at maybe helping figure that out if they have a bit more info. With a good amount of time before Round 1 I don't think re-taking the GMAT can hurt (maybe it means scholarship money at these same schools, plus maybe open up schools like Anderson and McCombs) depending on how you feel about your preparation, practice test scores, ability to do better, etc. when you got the 650.

Also you still will see what you hear back from the schools. I don't know their specific deadlines but for a lot of Round 2 schools, there's still 2-4 weeks left for people to hear about interviews from schools that do rolling interview notifications (but you know your schools better than I do). Maybe there will be some waitlists and/or valuable information on how you can improve your profile in a month.

Good luck!

Hi Everyone,

I am an aspiring candidate MBA fall 2018. I would highly appreciate your suggestions with school selection. Below are the details regarding my profile.
--> Indian IT Applicant, Female
--> Have 6+ years of experience in industry
-->Working in one of the most leading banks in the world as a Assistant Manager(Senior Software Developer)
-->GMAT -650(Q49 V29)..:(

Most of the people I have consulted with have told me that only problem I have is a low gmat as per Indian standard.
Schools I have applied in so far are :
-->USC Marshal(R2)
-->UC Davis(R2)
-->Paul Merage Irvine(R3..R2 was in november so couln't target that)
-->BYU(R2)
-->Eller(R2--in process)

My questions are:
Since I haven't got call from any college so far, I am bit anxious now, so what could be the chances of getting into any of these?
Does the women factor( Desperate times! ) and a good financial banking domain experience will add on to my profile?
Can I target any other good colleges around Arizona and California or fall 2018 as per my profile?
If not able to make it this fall, can I target some good MIS program which starts in winter, again around Arizona and California?

Hoping for a quick response!

First things first I have moved your post to a more appropriate forum.
Next here are my 2 cents on your conundrum->
I am in the same dilemma. I applied to only 3 schools because I got my GRE pretty late.
Strike out Eller from your list. Eller is a very very bad choice. It admits almost every candidate. It is an extremely **** school!

And why are moving away from the MBA?
If MBA was your dream-> In Will Smith's words " If you got a dream, you gotta protect that"

Women factor does help a lot.
As I see it you have two choices ->

Choice 1 => Apply to a few other schools like SMU. Why specifically Arizona or Cali? There are a few other options (not many since its already feb end)
Choice 2 => Wait just 5 more months. With an a average profile (I too have one) your best chance is R1. R2 and R3 are a bloodbath for Indians.
My vote is for choice number 2!

All the best
Stone

spawn003,
There are much better ways to use the time with your husband, while you prepare for your 2019 application (including arrangements with your employer to work remotely). Other ways also make it possible to upgrade your skill set via online mediums while you live with your husband.

BIG word of CAUTION: Don't just look at ways to "make the best of 2018", because your low GMAT, IT & Indian profile, and last round applications are actually driving you to consider options to "waste your life" by investing in schools which you may repent for life because of the missed opportunities.
Understand exactly WHY you want to pursue the next course, and then go for your MBA/MS.

If you are able to reattempt and get a better GMAT score, it may also be a differentiating factor for your post-grad job scenario (which currently is tough)
