Fuqua says that they do not make linear decisions and that they take people off the waitlist randomly. They recommend that you evaluate your weaknesses and send them an essay/additional letter/class transcript or anything that might address these weaknesses. TO be honest I do not know what my ONE/TWO weakness is/are. I feel I have a few weaknesses. I have a 670 GMAT (48 Q, 34 V) and and 3.0 GPA. My GMAT is not so high that it quells the concerns raised by my low GPA. I took a class in Finance and got an A- and the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences at my college has written a letter on my behalf hopefully telling them that I'm not stupid. Is this enough or should I retake the GMAT?
Presumably I got waitlisted because I have one or two weaknesses that need to be addressed, but I cannot call Fuqua and ask them what their concerns specifically are so I have to guess. But what if I guess wrong? What if they don't care about my low GPA and their major concern is something else?
My question to you guys is what is the most effective way to figure out what weaknesses in my application I should address? I just finished writing a letter updating Fuqua on my career progress and writing about the finance class I took and how in love with Fuqua I am but I have not sent it in yet. I did not talk about my poor undergraduate GPA, should I? Considering the answer is the standard, "I was immature and not as focused on my studies as I was on my
fill in the blank (in my case it was scientific research, Improv, etc.)" I felt that my A- should tell them I can do well now that I am serious about my goals, but is that enough? Do I have to focus attention on my poor GPA and average GMAT?
Sorry for all the questions but I am in somewhat of difficult position being on the waitlist. Don't get me wrong I am thankful that I did not get dinged but it is a little frustrating. The worst part of being waitlisted is not the waiting it's trying to figure out where you went wrong and fixing it without any information as to where you failed in your original application!!!
Thanks for your help and sorry about the frustrated tone of this post.
