Getting a letter of recommendation from a client?

Hi all,

I have been working as a management consultant for the past 3 years and have been in several client facing roles. Would it be a good idea to get my second letter of recommendation from one of my ex clients? I have worked with him for ~1 year and believe he knows me well enough to write a good letter with relevant examples.

You should check the guidelines on recommendations provided by every b-school where you are applying. Some b-schools are more open than others, to receiving recommendations from clients (although it should be okay if one reco is from a direct supervisor). Checking on individual b-school requirements will also help you understand whether you need to make a mention of your recommenders' choice in the optional essay.

Yes it's a decent sized company. Neither of us have anything to do with money handling.
