Hi Experts,

Please help me on this:

While opting MBA electives is it advisable to select courses which are not related to the main MBA concentration that one chooses or the electives could be related to the chosen concentration/specialization

Hey dharde9,

In speaking with former clients to catch up on how they are enjoying the MBA experience, I'm finding a lot of the finance students stick with mostly finance electives while those pursuing other paths have more diverse interests.

In the end, it really depends on what you think your weaknesses are and how broad a classroom experience you are looking for. Some students want a very narrow focus and to become an expert in one area while others focus more on the job search and try and take a more diverse set of classes that are rigorous in different ways.

Regards,
Scott

It is advisable take electives that complement your main concentration. For example, if you choose supply chain as your focus. It would be nice to know more about marketing such as channel management. You can also ass some strategy courses. But I do not prefer to choose electives that do not relate to your focus.

Thank you for the prompt reply! So I'll be choosing Data Analytics and corporate finance as finance is the main concentration. Could you please help me with this: I have an interview with a B School this week and I have been accepted at another B School with a scholarship. If the interviewer asks what other schools have you applied to, shall I state about the accepted B school and the scholarship amount?
