Posted from my mobile device👋 Hey
khannadwija311,
I came across your profile evaluation query on the forum and thought I'd reach out to offer some assistance from my own experience.
So here is what I would suggest:
Your profile showcases a blend of solid professional experience in strategy, active participation and leadership in extra-curricular activities, and a unique goal of blending sustainability with fashion in consulting post-MBA. Let's delve deeper:
Strengths:➡️ Professional Experience 🏢: Your experience at McKinsey & Co. is undoubtedly a strong point, especially given the client-facing role and early promotion. Your distinction of working directly with partners and experts speaks volumes about your abilities and is likely to be appreciated by AdComs.
➡️ Leadership Roles 🌟: Heading the college cultural fest and MUN, in addition to other leadership roles throughout your undergraduate period, demonstrates impressive leadership capabilities, which B-schools look for.
➡️ International Exposure 🌍: Your participation, judging, and organization of MUNs at national and international levels not only showcase your debating and analytical skills but also your global mindset.
➡️ Volunteer Work 💼: Your volunteer engagements during both university and professional tenure reflect a strong sense of community and values, enriching your profile further.
Areas of Improvement & Detailed Suggestions:➡️ GMAT Score 📈: While 670 is a commendable score, considering your target schools, especially the likes of Columbia, LBS, and INSEAD, pushing for a 720+ score would enhance the competitiveness of your application.
➡️ Example: Prioritize areas you're lagging in, possibly quant, and consider using additional resources or tutors to bridge the gap.
➡️ Define Sustainability Goals 🍃: Your goal of consulting in sustainability in fashion is niche and intriguing. It's essential to articulate a clear vision and how your background, combined with an MBA, will equip you for this role.
➡️ Example: Delve into why this blend of sustainability and fashion interests you and how your analytical and strategy background will add value in this sector.
➡️ Highlight Startups Experience 🔍: Mentioning the startups' business development role during your undergrad can be an additional asset if you elucidate on your learnings and contributions in these roles.
Recommendations for Application:➡️ Narrative Crafting 🖋️: Craft a compelling narrative on your journey from civil engineering to strategic roles at McKinsey, leading to an interest in sustainable fashion consulting.
➡️ Letter of Recommendation (LOR) 📄: A strong LOR from McKinsey, especially from one of the partners or experts you've worked with, would add immense value to your application.
➡️ School Research 📚: Given your unique goal, it might be beneficial to research which of your target schools have a strong emphasis on sustainability and fashion, and tailor your applications accordingly.
School Suggestions 🏫:➡️ Dream: LBS, Cambridge Said, Columbia (J-term), Yale, INSEAD (J-term) (with 720)
➡️ Competitive: UNC, Foster, Babson
➡️ Safe: Boston, Michigan State, Fisher
In conclusion, you have a strong and distinct profile, and with the right narrative and a slight boost in GMAT, you can aim for top-tier business schools.
