Hello everyone!
I am a 4th year at UChicago applying to Master in Management degrees in Booth, HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, and St. Gallen.

The two scores I am choosing from are:

GMAT in person:

Total / 720 / 93%
Quant / 48 / 63%
Verbal / 41 / 93%
IR / 8 / 90%
AWA / 6 / 86%

GMAT Online:

Total / 710 / 89%
Quant / 49 / 72%
Verbal / 39 / 88%
IR / 7 / 78%
AWA / 6 / 86%

For context, I did pretty poorly in my math classes in my 2nd year (Math Methods for Econ C-, Linear Algebra C+), but I have greatly improved throughout my college career (B+ in a very challenging Econometrics, rest A-s and As).

I believe that having the extra percentiles for my quant in the second score could help my application overall and the marginal decrease in the overall score would not make a major difference. However, it is obviously a bit difficult to make a choice to send a score that is lower.

Which score do you think maximizes my chances for the programs?
Thank you in advance for the advice!

AlloyAra This should not be a problem to fret over. If there is an optional essay in the application, mention that you have made a persistent effort to improve your score and mention both of your scores. Schools take the additional information provided in the optional essays for due consideration. Attach relevant evidence along with other documents. For the official application, it is better to submit the one with the higher overall score.

Best wishes

Hey AlloyAra,

Your low grades are nothing to stew over while submitting applications. Universities consider the overall profile while shortlisting applications.
For your applications, you can go ahead with your higher score GMAT. Through your essays/optional essays, you can always let the universities know of your constant effort to improve, do better, and be consistent.

In case you wish to discuss this with an expert, we would recommend scheduling a free profile consultation call with our MBA consultants here.
