Hi All,
I need guidance on pursuing MBA and will that be a good choice considering my below profile ->
- Current Experience & Age -> 12 years Experienced IT professional at 35 years of Age.
- Work Profile -> Currently Employed as Quality Engineering Architect , a Technical Profile for monitoring the Automation Ecosystem & providing the solutions for Automation Testing.
- Education -> I have done Bachelors of Engineering in Industrial & Production Engineering with 7.22 CGPA (10 Grading Scale). I don't have any major stints at Extra Curricular activities.
- Reason of doing MBA -> I want to hop to a higher management role in business side. Currently I just have experience in technical roles and have managed teams at functional level. If I continue with my current profile it would be lot more years to get those roles in business side. Also I feel saturated financially in my current profile with very less chances of growth. So I am seeing MBA as a probable option for taking my career into new direction.
- Family Background -> I am married but no kids as of now.
- Financial Concerns -> I would need financial assistance like education loan to support my MBA so I am looking for colleges which can provides very generous amount of scholarships.
- GMAT Status -> I have given GMAT 4 years back , got 450 score but did not accept it. I could not prepare well due to some personal issues.
Please let me know is MBA the right choice for enhancing my career and what are the colleges I should aim for 1 year MBA with respective GMAT score.
Hi
grvtwr18,
Given your 12 years of experience in IT, particularly in a technical role, pursuing an MBA can be a strategic move to transition into a higher management role. However, it's crucial to consider the following factors:
Strengths:
Significant Work Experience: Your 12 years of experience in IT, especially in a technical leadership role, is a strong asset.
Strong Academic Foundation: Your engineering degree from a reputed institution demonstrates your technical abilities and problem-solving skills.
Challenges:
Age Factor: While age is not a significant barrier, it's important to consider how your age might impact your career trajectory and the expectations of potential employers.
GMAT Score: A score of 450 may not be competitive for top-tier MBA programs. Improving your GMAT score significantly can enhance your chances of admission.
Financial Constraints: Your financial situation is a crucial factor to consider when selecting a program.
By carefully considering these factors and taking proactive steps, you can increase your chances of admission to a top-tier MBA program that aligns with your career goals.
