With a GMAT score of 605 (Q-86, V-79, D-75), you're in the mid-range for many business schools, but your strong professional background, international exposure, and achievements will help make your application stand out. Based on your profile, here are some schools that could be a good fit:

1. Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)

IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, and IIM Kozhikode could be within reach, as they often consider professional experience and overall growth.

2. International Business Schools (Moderate Range)

SP Jain School of Global Management (India/Singapore/Dubai campuses) could be a good option considering your international project experience.

ISB (Indian School of Business) could be challenging but worth considering for a strong professional background like yours.

3. Regional/Other Good Business Schools

Great Lakes Institute of Management (Chennai, India) could be a good match for your score and profile.

MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad) if you're considering marketing or communications-based MBA programs.

Key Factors to Focus On:

Professional Experience: With 6+ years in finance and international exposure, you’re well-positioned to leverage your work experience.

Leadership: Your Toastmasters involvement is a great way to highlight leadership and communication skills, important for many business schools.

Unique Story: Your transition from Hindi Medium to English and your success despite a challenging academic environment can be compelling for schools looking for resilience and determination.

Recommendations:

Reach out to Admissions: Speak to admissions representatives to gauge if schools will consider your background despite the GMAT score.

Essay and Recommendations: Focus on a compelling narrative in your essays, highlighting your achievements, leadership, and international experience.

If you’re open to retaking the GMAT or considering schools with flexible score requirements, it could open doors to more competitive programs.

Thanks for your advice. How difficult will be INSEAD or HEC Paris or NUS/NTU with this score ?

It entirely depends on which country you wish to study in and what your post-MBA career plan is. Generally speaking, you may be better placed by improving your score by at least another 60-70 points.

I’m too targeting the same....

gmatr12024 - the current score would limit the choice of schools (check out stats here). Do you foresee an improvement if you were to retake the exam (or switch to GRE)?

The choice of schools would depend on your career goals, geographic preferences, among other factors such as these.

Hi,

I would like to have advice regarding which schools can I target with my GMAT Score of 605 (Q-86, V-79, D-75).

My Background as follows:
Citizen - Indian
Profession - Chartered Accountant with Majorly in Accounts & Finance.
Work Experience - 6+ Years
Other - Worked with World-known Brands of India, also have international project exposure of 4 months in London.
I did my BCOM as well as MCOM.

Club - Part of Toastmaster International Club for > 1 year, where I tried to improve my communication (as my schooling till grade 10th is in Hindi Medium) & leadership skills.

Other Achievements - My entire schooling till grade 10th was in vernacular medium, however from class 11th there is shift in entire subject to english, I was not only able to manage the such huge shift but also able to make in college topper list (2nd position). Also, since I was doing my graduation & chartered accountacny together my CGPA has impacted bit down side, however I cleared all my chartered accountant examination in 1st attempt (which has only 8% pass rate)

Hi gmatr12024,

Your profile presents a strong foundation – Chartered Accountant with a strong 6 year work experience. However, a GMAT score of 605 would be a challenge for top-tier MBA programs.

Strengths:
Work Experience: While more details about your work experience would be helpful for further assessment, you have a strong six years of experience with reputed brands.

Areas to Consider:
It's advisable to aim for a higher GMAT score. These top-tier programs typically have higher average GMAT scores and seek candidates with exceptional academic and professional profiles. It can also help mitigate your lower GPA. You can consider retaking the GMAT exam or try switching to GRE, if that help you achieve a more competitive score.

Consider a mix of reach, target, and safety schools. We can help you shortlist the right-fit schools based on a detailed discussion about your goals and profile.
Key Strategies:
Thorough Research: Research each program's strengths, specializations, and culture to find the best fit for your career goals.
Compelling Essays: Craft essays that highlight your unique experiences, career goals, and fit with the program.
Strong Recommendations: Obtain letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your leadership abilities, work ethic, and potential.
Networking: Connect with alumni from your target schools to gain insights and potential mentorship.
Interview Preparation: Practice common interview questions and develop effective communication skills.

By focusing on these areas and leveraging your strengths, you can increase your chances of admission to top-tier MBA programs. Feel free to schedule a complimentary call with our MBA consultants. You can also connect with them via call or WhatsApp at +91 7780769732.

Hello gmatr12024,

With the current score and considering we are late in the day, you will barely have any options. You should improve your score and apply in an aggressive manner to the geographies you are interested in. The good part is that with your existing years of experience, almost every geography will be suited.

Good luck!
