Vijay175 Getting a confirmation about a promotion for a future date is not the same as getting an actual promotion. Unfortunately, there's little that will change from an evaluation point of view, although you may still write them an email if you would like. About the structure, you need not be so formal, attach whatever confirmation you have received from your manager.

Best wishes

Hello,

Brief background on profile:
Indian, 25, male, engineer, GMAT 740 (classic)
Work experience: Jun'2021 - present (~4 years now) at MBB capability center

Applied to INSEAD for Jan'26 intake.

While it is present in my essays, LoR and resume that I am being considered for an early promotion, I just got a confirmation from my manager that I will be promoted in April (fast-track by 1 year)

I submitted my R1 application over a week ago. Need suggestions on whether it makes sense to send the admissions PoC an email informing them on the confirmation of promotion. If yes, any thoughts on how to structure it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Vijay175,

Congratulations on your upcoming promotion! That’s a fantastic achievement and will certainly strengthen your profile.

Regarding whether to inform INSEAD now, I’d recommend waiting until the promotion is officially confirmed in April. Since it’s not yet finalized, updating them prematurely may not add substantial value. Admissions committees prefer concrete updates, and once it's official, you can frame it as a confirmed milestone rather than a possibility.

When the time comes to send an update, keep it concise and professional:
  • Start with a brief greeting and reference your submitted application.
  • Clearly mention that you are reaching out to provide an important update.
  • State the promotion, including the new title and effective date.
  • End with a reaffirmation of your enthusiasm for INSEAD and a polite closing.

Feel free to schedule a complimentary call with our MBA consultants. You can also connect with them via call or WhatsApp at +91 7780769732.

Thanks to everyone for their replies!
I sent a brief email (just 2-3 lines) a few days ago saying my promotion is confirmed and that I will be promoted to the new title starting April. Did not want to delay sending the email by another week or two as the interview invites are on a rolling basis. Fingers crossed!

Promotions have been officially confirmed, so no doubt on whether it still may not happen!

Hello Vijay175,

Since you are yet to receive a promotion formally, you must not write to the Ad Com immediately; wait for it to materialize.

Thanks.
