Chinmaya47,

You have a strong professional track—rapid promotions and leadership in a sizable credit fund, backed by a CFA and Maths Honors from a top Delhi University college. However, your low undergrad CGPA and a GMAT below ISB’s average (655) could be hurdles; consider a GMAT retake and clearly explain your academics. Highlight your extracurriculars (like founding the college cell), clarify your consulting role and post-ISB goals, and be sure to show why you need an MBA now. Overall, your experience stands out, but a higher GMAT and strong context will boost your ISB chances.

Hi Chinmaya47,

Your profile clearly showcases potential for leadership but the low undergrad CGPA and a GMAT score that stands below the average at ISB may impact your overall chances of success. You must try and improve your GMAT score so it helps you offset the low CGPA (to a large extent).

Please feel free to contact us for a complimentary strategy session in order to discuss your prospects in detail.

All the best!

Hi Chinmaya47,

You should definitely consider applying to the ISB PGP program. Your journey, from consulting to being part of the founding team at a ₹1000+ Cr private credit fund, leading 50+ investments, and rising quickly to AVP, is a clear strength.

While your undergrad CGPA is on the lower side, clearing CFA Level 3 adds strong academic weight. A GMAT score of 655 keeps you in contention, but a retake to push it higher is advisable. With the right positioning and essay strategy, your profile can stand out at ISB.

Chinmaya47,

Hey! Got a chance to go through your profile blurb — this is actually a pretty compelling profile.
Your professional journey stands out. Being part of the founding team at a ₹1000+ Cr private credit fund and leading 50+ investments is serious stuff. That kind of exposure (especially with the progression to AVP) shows real leadership and depth, which ISB values a lot.

The undergrad CGPA is on the lower side, yes — but with strong 10th/12th scores, CFA Level 3 cleared, and solid work experience, it becomes more of a soft bump than a red flag. Just make sure you briefly contextualize it in the optional essay (internships + founding the cell) and move on.

As for the GMAT Focus 655 — you're good! That’s equivalent to a 710+ in the classic version, so you're absolutely within range for ISB R1. Now it's all about nailing your essays and story.

If I were in your shoes, I’d apply confidently. You’ve got a strong case. You can start your prep by listening to the Video recorded by Arijit, ISB CO15, capturing the nuances and potential strategies to ace this year's ISB Essays : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SI4VI_cOvPI

Cheers and wishing you all the very best !! Feel free to reach out if you seek professional assistance.

Hi Chinmaya47,

You have a very strong professional profile - CFA L3 cleared, founding team member of a sizable private credit fund, rapid promotions, and direct leadership on 50+ investments is highly impressive and highly relevant for ISB’s finance-driven career paths. Your academics are mixed: excellent 10th/12th, but the undergrad GPA is a red flag. Since you can justify it with credible extracurricular leadership (internships, founding a cell) and your CFA credential plus strong career trajectory, the weakness is somewhat mitigated.

Your GMAT 655 is competitive for ISB. However, if you think there is scope to improve your sore, I’d encourage you to retake the GMAT and aim to improve your score by 20–30 points to strengthen your application.

Highlighting your leadership, professional achievements/tangible impact, relevant skills, career goals, unique experiences, and fit with the program effectively will be crucial in crafting a compelling application.
