Hi everyone,
I am planning to apply for INSEAD MBA for the January 2027 intake and would appreciate an honest evaluation of my profile.
Academics:
● Klüber Lubrication - Making a Star Difference Award; Best Value Case Studies, Runner Up (2024)
● ICAPIE, International Conference – Co-Author (2021)
● Shell Eco Marathon – Head, Electric Powertrain (2019)
● Indian National Olympiad in Informatics – Honourable Mention (2016)
Post-MBA Plans:
Honestly, post MBA Goals is something I am torn about.
[*]My role has evolved from technical execution at L&T to driving business growth and managing accounts at Kluber Lubrication. In this process, I realized that what excites me most is winning business for the organization. I now aspire to challenge myself in diverse industries and larger enterprises where sales extend beyond technical value selling - Industries which demand understanding consumer behaviour, managing brands, designing marketing strategies, and making informed data driven decisions for example Unilever, Shell etc.
At the same time I’ve also been told that consulting traditionally aligns with INSEAD and is always a safe bet but then I’ve personally had doubts about it given people emphasising the need to ‘stand out’ in your application. Need advice from experts on this.

- 10th (CBSE): 10/10 CGPA, India
- 12th (CBSE): 93%, India
- B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering): 8.4 CGPA, India
- GMAT FE (Jan, 2025): 665
- 3+ years as an Application Engineer at Kluber Lubrication - D[color=#333d42]riving business development and delivering technical solutions in 3 segments -Compressor, Agri and Automotive across North and East India for speciality lubricants. I handle global OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Case New Holland and their suppliers[/color]
- 2 years as a Sr. Engineer at L&T - Construction Services in HRRL Refinery. Mainly Project Management.

Some thoughts on your profile evaluation and some suggestions/questions to ponder on:
- The acadmic profile is a bit unclear since you've not mentioned the college pedgiree/name. The GPA is healthy but GMAT score won't help your case. Thought not a deal breaker, Indian candidates to INSEAD tend to score in the 675+ range. Any plans for a retake?
- The professional profile shows promise given the nature of your work in non-engg space as well. Both your employers will however be non-feeders - have peers/seniors from any of your teams been admitted to INSEAD in the recent past? Also, how has your trajectory been - faster than the norm/at par? Finally, INSEAD values international experience a lot; have you had any?
- Top schools look for solid ECs/volunteer efforts. Olympiad/paper come under academic, not ECs. Anything substanial on this front?
- It is always prudent to hedge your bets by applying to multiple schools. For Jan'27, you can check out IMD/HEC/IE.

Your profile's decent for INSEAD Jan '27, but not a slam dunk—acads are solid (10/10 in 10th, 93% in 12th, 8.4 B.Tech), GMAT 665 is kinda weak for Indian applicants(aim for 675+, retake it). Work exp's nice, going from L&T projects to sales at Kluber with big OEMs like Maruti, but no real feeders or much global stuff. Play up your awards and career jump. In essays, sell your move from tech guy to biz hustler, aiming for marketing at Unilever/Shell types—back it with numbers on deals won, own the GMAT in interviews, be real over boring consulting. Apply to other safe programs as a backup.
