Hi Alex, I'm hoping you could evaluate my profile.
GPA: 3.1 (Top 10 engineering program, Mechanical Engineering, I think it might help that my final 2 years cumulative GPA in college was 3.5, and last 3 terms are dean's list)
GMAT: 710
Work Experience: I'm in my third year at a operations consulting role for a accenture/pwc/ibm/deloitte type of consulting firm. Just got my first promotion to senior consultant after 2.5 years.
do annual performance ratings on the job matter to mba programs? can i mention this?
Extra-Curriculars: I didn't do a whole lot in college, I did research for 2.5 years in a lab, and did sports clubs and such for fun, and an engineering society for a little bit, but no leadership roles. After college, I have been a a tutor with a local literacy organization, teaching english to new immigrants, and serve in a role maintaining relationships with local libraries, and promoting the literacy nonprofit, essentially presenting our programs to the head librarians in the area. I also serve on an ethnic diversity leadership team for the local area for work, co-organizing charity, social and career development events and seminars. It doesn't seem like a lot compared to many people on this board.
Race: Chinese American (I'm not sure if it's worth it to bring up that I was an immigrant, came to the US at the age of 12, and first gen college student)
I have a recommendation letter from the lab that i worked at in college, from a senior PhD candidate, I asked for this in my senior year. Not sure if I should submit this as an additional rec?
Because I've experienced the large school experience in undergrad, I especially appreciate what the smaller mba programs can provide for me, and I feel that I definitely feel more comfortable in a smaller program, suburban/rural area.
Schools I'm targeting for the Round 1 in October are:
Tuck (EA possibly, does it help?)
Duke
Cornell
Emory
Northwestern
Georgetown
Thanks so much!
