E is the correct answer.

C is wrong because "people" and computer don't match. It means that many people own a single computer.

Unsure of the direction in which the technology of home entertainment is headed, many telecommunications
companies now question if people will ever sit down at their computers to watch movies and television.

a) question if people will ever sit down at their
computers to watch
b)zuestion if people will ever sit down at their
computers and watch
c)question whether people will sit down at their
computer and watch
d)wonder if ever a person will sit down at their
computer and watch
e)wonder whether people will ever sit down at
their computers to watch

i pick E here. there is a choice so whether is to be used here. C is out because "sit down" and "watch movies and television" must not be separated. infact the intended meaning is distorted in C

If is a condition marker and hence is irrelevant in the given case, since no condition is involved. When you a stipulate a condition, then you hve to also make clear what will be the result of commission and omission of the condition.

Therefore, ABD is out; Between C and E: The issue here is not a question and answer exercise. . The Telco’s are oblivious of the future and are wondering. The right diction to describe such bewilderment will be wonder. . However, more importantly, C misses an important factor of the original in that, the choice omits to repeat a critical mission factor namely ‘ever’, which is an accentuation of the dilemma suffered by the tacos. To that extent, C fails to carry the mantle of the original. So happily E.

hey man. thats the perfect explanation of eliminating C here. kudos to you buddy :)

whether is the right word here.... hence narrowed down to C and E

in C the word 'ever' is missing...

hence E

The word "now" is part of underlined portion. But in none of answer choices it appears. Atleast in answer choice A it should be there. Am i missing something here?

ruchik Edited. Thank you.

No, the word "now" does not need to be part of option A.

Maybe I misunderstand what you mean. If so, let me know.
The word "now" should be and now is in the non-underlined portion of the sentence.
