In areas where rice is the staple diet, genetically modified rice enriched with vitamin A is shown to significantly reduce the risk of night blindness and also help in saving money spent otherwise on expensive Vitamin-A medication.

A. significantly reduce the risk of night blindness and also help in saving money spent
saving conjugation doesnt match reduce. Not parallel

B. be significant in reducing the risk of night blindness and also helping in saving money spent
incorrect.

C. significantly reduce the risk of night blindness and also help save money spent
Correct. both reduce and save are in present simple, and both parallel.

D. cause a significant reduction in the risk of night blindness and also help in spending saved money
incorrect.

E. significantly reduce the risk of night blindness as well as helping save money spent
incorrect.

Can somebody please explain why is A incorrect? Thanks in advance!

The verbs "reduce" and "saving" are not parallel. "Reduce" is parallel with "save", hence C is the correct option.

Although I am not an Verbal , expert But ..... in GMAT world ' and also ' might be redundant....... Ans C is the better than the rest ,but the option is still questionable.

Could any experts(or anyone) please help me with an Official Example where 'and also' has been considered correct ?

Hi,
I took A because I felt 'reduce' needs to be parallel with 'help' and not 'save'. Moreover in C, I thought that 'help save' is awkward as 2 independent verbs are together. Please help
