I was trying to find ideal option for "Not Only.. But Also" but then I was not able to figure out so I decided to look at other things. The list is of nouns. Clearly. Writer. Educator. We need a third noun. "Owned her own business" is not a noun. Gone. 3 Options One Go. D is best of the lot. Approach 2: Let's say you want to solve it using the idiom rule only. The problem is "She was" is the part outside "Not Only" and that means we should not repeat "She". Technically you can get rid of all 4 options in one go. You just have to be extra careful

There is a comma right after 'history'. So, shouldn't there be a noun indicating 'she' ?
Else, if there was not a comma, then 'she' would not be needed here.

Since "was" is BEFORE the "not only," it's not part of the idiom. Therefore, you cannot use it in the "but also" part.
