The passage is not determining the place where the method took place, so Where In A and B is nullified.
C have parallelism issue
D while also being robust to the required time correction. (Breaking the continuity in between the clauses)
E is best choice, Correct choice of words. No parallelism issue, and continuity is there.

A : usage of where modifying medieval method is wrong... it could be in which or that , while the later has been used in options
B : same as A.
C : that yields exact Alfonsine times *and* it is : what comes after and is a pronoun (it ), we do not have pronoun that it could be parallel to.

>Where can only be used to refer to actual geographical locations. Here, it is used to refer "medieval method", which makes the sentence incorrect.
Scanning thru options, we find only Option E) corrects this issue and presents a parallel sentence.

AB can be eliminated directly as ‘where’ is used for location and cannot be used for medival period.
C - parallalism issue- and it is - should just be - and is
D- while being is awkward and makes no sense
E- best answer choice, maintains parallelism with ‘and is’ and doesn’t use ‘where’ for defining time period
